    AMD 2600+ VS Intel P4 2.8??

The problem of lag could be a loaded up OS. It depends. If the AMD is less loaded, it could take the plasma gun to fire with less lag.

    oc'd e6600 to 3.330

RAM is a lot harder to OC, but if you're CPU is stable, don't mess with voltage. you can OC your GPU.

Nah, I can't take that. I had a 486 and it eventually got to the garbage. This one will be faster.

    Your first computer

Heh, those were the prices. My first PC was an old 8008, with the old black and orange screen. Some random DOS oriented OS with Test drive and golf as games. However, the family PC was a 4004...so old, it was slow to boot. Then, the real serious PC I had a a 486 66MHZ that lasted til 2002.

can't find system recovery and recovery cd is broke doesn't work

My opinion is to borrow a friend's CD, or buy a new copy and then, reinstall Windows by erasing the Windows directory. It will be prompted if you leave the system intact.

P4PE not powering up...let's try and revive it

Basically, this board was given and I think it has potential to work again. I can unsolder and solder the parts. Here's the deal: This motherboard has not had any problems until a SmartPower 2.0 failed. The caps in the PSU was shorting out, so the board was having pusling power. I could...

    Fill in the holes

I trust you there, but you missed the part that I do not want to use Windows XP anymore. But at least, I'm happy to hear inputs rather than just choosing another.

    Fill in the holes

Okay, this isn't really easy. My WinXP Pro is crapping out on me, so I need to reformat. Now, I have several OSes. I do not wish to use Windows XP system, nor the 2k3. Windows 2000 is painfully slow, and he earlier versions are a pure joke to use. Now, I have either Vista, Linux or a MAC...

    eVGA or ASUS

I preffer ASUS motherboards. The one I got is a very good one, and the next one is the P5B. I'm thinking for Intel boards though...we'll see. EVGA is a good brand. I never tried them, but I'm sure they're as good as ASUS.

    Which CPU is faster.

The Athlon 64 will destroy the Celeron with ease. The reason why it's cheaper is that it's OEM, so no heatsink+fan.

    And that's how I repaired a 400W Power supply

No, the wiring problem is on the Truepower. That bag o' crap fried a fan controller in 15 mins. The One I repaired blown caps is a SmartPower. The wiring is great too. The Truepower has either bad wires or there is a problem in the rails.

    And that's how I repaired a 400W Power supply

Probably. The reason why I wired the fans is because the fans didn't work. The replacement caps are not cheap fuhjyyu. It's from a tough Socket 7board. The problem with my TruePower 1, is that the 430W I have, has very flimsy wires. It has like cuts in the wires, because if I move them in...

    And that's how I repaired a 400W Power supply

no, they are exact replacements. Same everything...and you know what? My True Power is a complete problem box. HDDs quitting for no reasons, boards aren't booting, 10V on the 12V Rail...nice. Lately, the kid's been more quieter on those problems. SmartPower stuff isn't the best thing, but...
