Should I wait for the nehalem?

sounds like a pretty nice setup, very similar to what I would suggest (I would have suggested a Gigabyte EP45-DS3R mobo, an Nvidia GTX280 vid card, and some GSkill RAM that uses the D9GMH chips such as some of the Gigabyte or TeamGroup RAM) let us know how it goes. sounds like an awesome setup.

Keep us posted how it goes. some processors clock very well with lower voltages than others. I've heard the E0 stepping E8400's will be able to do higher clocks 24/7 than the C0's.

Should I wait for the nehalem?

werd. let us know what you have right now and what you need it to do. maybe you have something nice enough to make the wait worth it. if you don't, then we can figure out what is worth building at the moment to meet your requirements.

I'm pretty sure that is Chuck Norris in the pic I posted. He has been famous for several decades, after all. When is the list updated?

    This Temperature look right?

what program are you using the measure the temps? RealTemp should be the most accurate. If you are overclocking the E6550, then those numbers seem fine. But if it is running at the stock 333X7, then I would think something is either not measuring temps right or the heatsink isn't applied...

dang maybe I can get that thing to clock faster if I find a real pic of Chuck Norris. When do I get my name on the #1 slot on the first post here?

    help with cpu selection

what is your budget? IMO the whole point of overclocking a computer for daily use is to get performance out of a CPU similar to more expensive CPU's. IMO the best choice right now on a budget dual-core is the E8500. I think you can find it for around 190 shipped from a reputable business...

    Post your SuperPi Score!

I thought the whole point of superpi numbers was to see how quick of a time we can get. My goal here is to run a budget build on air and with DDR2. The Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme works pretty well keeping the temps down. When I'm not going for 9 sec superpis on air, this processor is...

an E8400 on a Gigabyte P45-DS3R motherboard that Gigabyte sent my buddy and I for testing. Haven't really messed with it too much, but managed to hit 9's on air and GSkill DDR2 RAM
