PSU failure: voltages too low - possible damage?

Never mind. The new PSU fixed the issue. One of the RAM DIMMs wasn't inserted fully which is why it wouldn't start after putting in the new PSU. Sorry for wasting your time, StrangleHold!

Failed to power on with the fans plugged into the Motherboard

How many fans are connected to this cable? You're talking about powering multiple fans from a single header, right? Have you tried it with a single fan? Can you check the fans work okay but powering directly from the PSU (you may need a molex adapter to do this)?

PSU failure: voltages too low - possible damage?

Indeed, I'm aware the voltages are out of spec and that's why I bought a new PSU. I've not tried resetting the CMOS because I didn't think that'd help and I can't remember how my RAID is set up. Edit: I've reset the CMOS but it didn't help. I'll have wait for the speaker. I was hoping someone...

    Fan Controller.

I've got a couple of solutions. The simplest solution is to get a couple of Y-splitters so you can power two fans from a single header on the motherboard. This is a Y-splitter. The alternative is something like this which draws the power from the PSU but uses a connection to the...

PSU failure: voltages too low - possible damage?

For a few months I experienced BSODs that related to graphics card drivers. A couple of weeks ago my computer would not boot (the fans all started but the power LED appeared to flicker). I measured some of the PSU (Thermaltake 705w 700 W, now eight years old) voltages and the 12 V output was...

Advice re: thin client specs for kitchen computer

Are you sure? The thin client only needs to display what it gets from my Desktop PC. It's my desktop which should be doing the work?

Advice re: thin client specs for kitchen computer

I would like to access online recipes and entertainment from my kitchen and thought a thin client would be a cost-effective way to use the free LCD monitor I got from work. I will use the thin client to access a session on my Windows 7 computer in another room. Can someone advise re: the specs...

Synchronisation software for Win 7 and XP which also synchronises network drives

Hi, I'm looking for software which will synchronise between my personal laptop (Win 7), personal desktop (Win 7) and work desktop (Win XP) including work network drives. Does anyone know a synchronisation software which will do this? Additionally, it would be great if it could also perform...

Psu keeps blowing!!! Help someone plz :)

Are you sure that the problem is the PSU? What exactly happens when you play those games - does the computer restart or switch off completely? If it restarts, then perhaps your graphics card or memory is at fault. Try a free program called Memtest86+ to check memory.

Advice on SSD purchase - Corsair R120 reasonable?

In the end, I got an OCZ Vertex 2, 60 GB and have put programs for which speeds is less of a concern on a special partition on a slower drive.

    500GB enough?

Yeah, I'd just get it and use it, and then, when the time comes, add another drive. There's no point in getting the extra drive before you need it though, 'cause prices are always dropping.

    not sure what to do.

Okay, thanks. I still recon the OP's easiest option is to just install the second drive and leave Windows where it is, though.

    not sure what to do.

Oh right, I didn't know that. Does it work for all Windows versions? Later Windows versions such as Vista and 7 are ever vigilant against what might be a sign of piracy.

Advice on SSD purchase - Corsair R120 reasonable?

I really didn't want to have to buy an SSD this early in the game but an unanticipated failure has forced my hand. Would this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/196891 pose a reasonable solution? I don't really like paying through the nose but on the other hand a Velociraptor isn't really cheap and...

    not sure what to do.

I'm not sure you can just copy a Windows installation to a different brand/model of drive? Doesn't it cause driver issues, at least?

    not sure what to do.

Computers surviving crashes is not noteworthy. My computer crashes occasionally and has almost always recovered after terminated the crashed program or, if needs be, resetting. I'm guessing that your motherboard will accept only IDE HDDs (without purchasing a SATA card). If you've happily used...

    Flash Drive size decreased

Try deleting the partition before formatting using Windows Disk Management (part of Computer Management in the Control Panel). I don't think you need any other tools for this. Windows is capable.

CPU at <40% during video rendering - where is the bottleneck?

I don't understand... are you saying that I have achieved the fastest possible rendering times that the laws of physics will allow? I know that you're not! so what's holding me back?
