There should be a recovery partition on the harddrive. It can be access by F9 or F11. If the drive doesn't (highly unlikely), there is a tool in Win 7 which will allow you to create your own back up discs.

I'd get a mid tower case. Doesn't really have to be anything fancy. Only if you were to get a high end video card do you need to worry about case size.
