Benchmarks for ATI Radeon HD 2900 XTX and ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT- A big disappointment

Err, why is the XTX performing the same as the XT? I don't think those benchmarks are very trustworthy.

Because there is no big difference between XTX and XT

XTX just have a faster memory, and I don't thing that faster memory would make any big difference in terms of performance

We saw a bigger improvement between the x1900XTX and the x1950XTX, but perhaps that was because the memory was more of a bottleneck on those cards?

this is kinda depressing

not even AMD could help ATI.......

If intel and nvidia team up, the end of the world may be at hand.......

On the other hand, as long as the price is right, i wouldn't mind a lesser performing card than the 8800's......... I certainly don't need a $400+ card for my needs.

He's saying that those results are bona fide, but surely the XTX will seriously outperform the XT? Those margins look a bit mini.

Higher core clocks and memory mean nothing. If you have a car with 500HP, what good will it do if it can only run in 1st gear? Smoke the tires away very fast. You put a 200HP with 6 gears, the one with popcorn under the hood will win the race.

The XTX has a faster core clock and faster memory..

AMD ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT (745 MHz core, 1600 MHz GDDR3)
AMD ATI Radeon HD 2900 XTX (750 MHz core, 2020 MHz GDDR4)

The only difference I see is memory speed....

5MHz difference in clock speed is noting....

ATI will release Radeon HD 2900XT and XTX on May 5

Radeon HD 2600 and 2400 will be released on May 14

Nvidia will also release 8800 Ultra on mid May

Is the 8800GTX better than the 8800 Ultra??? Is the 8800GTS better than the 8800 Ultra??? Where does the 8800 Ultra stand price wise???

pipe line length?

2900XT/XTX have 320 stream processors, but it operates at much slower speed than 8800GTX/GTS. In G80 the stream processors and ROP (Render Output Pipelines) operate at a different speeds. In R600, both the stream processors and ROP operate at same speed.

GTX has 24 ROP, and GTS have 20 ROP. 2900XT/XTX have 16 ROP. And ROPs in these card operate at same speed as their clock speeds.

However, the 128 stream processors in 8800GTX operates at 1.35GHz, and 96 stream processors in GTS operates at 1.2GHz

The 320 stream processors in 2900XT/XTX operates at the same speed as their clock speed.

I think thats the reason why 8800GTX outperform 2900XT/XTX (even thought it has less stream processors)

I was talking about current cards. I did not realize you were speaking about the cards that haven't been released, apparently you know someone at AMD/ATI.

This is all still speculation as far as I am concerned.
