how much does this all total? I think i'll probably get Windows 7.
And Windows 7 would cost more than $100. That's going to be somewhat expensive. Do i need a power supply that is that high?
If i'm going to be using the computer for documents for school, streamed videos such as 1080p youtube, email, and music, what kind of Windows 7 should i buy?
I'm not familiar with this kind of stuff, so basically you're saying it's possible to use a PC pretty well without Windows?

There are some things you won't be able to do. You won't be able to game (hardware), and you won't be able to use netflix streaming (company refuses to use anything but windows).
But yes, you can use linux and do just about everything windows can, minus be venerable to maleware and viruses, and paying $100 for using it.

There are alternatives to Windows. But you can't use a PC without an OS.
The Corsair CX 430 is a cheaper PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026 that'd work nicely for you.
Also, if i want to connect a monitor that has a VGA outlet to a computer with a VGA outlet, would this work?

I tried using a adapter that was DVI female to VGA male, it didn't work. so i might buy the object i just listed.
