Yeah, I'm sorry about that "Guy", My internet wouldn't come back on after I plugged it back into my computer

Right, I've got a Compiz.tar.gz file and I've extracted it to 'Home'

But I don't know how to install it?

Is that it, How do I do a new line? :o

You can do it that way, but compiz fusion is already installed. All you need is just the manager to enable the "advanced effects".
Go to the terminal and type
Code:
sudo apt-get install compiz compizconfig-settings-manager
This requires an active internet connection.

And about your question earlier, you do not need a crossover cable, just a normal ethernet cable will work. Plug it into your other computer, then on your windows computer right click the active connection (the connections with internet) and share it. I dont remember what tab it is under exactly, but youll find it it a few. Then restart and you should now have internet on the xubuntu computer from the windows computer.

EDIT: O and a new line simply means press enter in the terminal.

so are you on the internet with your linux rig or not?

Nope, On on my Windows Machine... I can't get the internet to work with the Linux lappy...

Would I need the internet for that?

Ah right, I'll see where I can get one :)

When I press enter it runs the command I just typed...

Yeah, thats what it is suppose to do, now you have a new line, lol. And yes, you need internet to get the compiz plugin manager. I am surprised you don't have a regular ethernet cable laying around. For now you can use some simple plugins. Go to System>>Preferences>>Appearance>>Visual Effects. Then from there select extras. Now apply and exit. Press ctrl+alt and arrow keys to rotate cube, or ctrl+alt and left click

I think we're running around in circles with these drivers. I found ones on the unex ftp website. I want you to run the command "lspci" in your terminal. It will give you a very long output. I want you to look for the line says "description: generic usb device" and list the next paste back the next 8 lines underneath it.

I just replied to your PM :)

I can't do it now, I've got work tomorrow, but I can do it when I get back! :D
I'll do that, paste the next 8 lines, just how we left it, leave all the drivers and stuff?

Sim, When I go to install the new drivers, it doesn't do anything, it doesn't appear in the 'Currently Installed Windows Driver' thing?

Sim, I tried the Drviers you linked me to, I intalled them. The light came on the USB adaptor, but has now gone out, but I can see a list of networks in the WiFi Radar, including mine! :D How do I connect to it?
I have the disconnect option, but no connect?

Right, Well, I've got the internet working on the laptop, only problem is, it's my Mum's USB adaptor, which is also an invental one, but mine doens't work with the laptop, don't know if it's because of the drivers?

Also, I think I installed Compiz, I go to the 'Advanced Desktop Effects', or the compiz settings manager and it's all empty, there isn't anything there?
