I have used XP most so for me, that is my favorite operating system. My fiancee and my friend think that 2000 is a lot more stable than XP. I think XP pro is a bit more stable than XP home though. I am not sure how I feel about vista, since I cant even upgrade to it on this computer and it is less than a year old. Dumb bios...

Suse is good as long as you make sure you do the following:

1) Update YAST immediately (or YAST2 depending on your version)
2) Add all online repositories in YAST and any app you use to get them (apt, yum, git, etc)
3) have wifi driver support (really only applies to laptops and for the most part lots of things are supported)

The repository problem is one that has plauged me since 10.0 and I can't seem to fix it 100%. Its one of those problems that reoccurs every now and then and other times it works great. I think over all debian based distros have better online repositories, but that is just my experience. Other than those things, I think Open Suse is great. Hopefully novell can handle the open source market.
