Gaming megahouse $2500 budget build

Hi all!

I'm planning on building a gaming computer and i wanted your imput! I want dual screens and the fastest computer possible with my budget. My budget is $2500 with two screens, mice, and keyboard.

This is what me and a couple of my buddies came up with. Any recomendations on what to change?

Another quick question i had is, do i need a sound card? i mainly use headphones but i do enjoy watching movies/listen to music with my speakers. Also, i have no clue where i put that in the computer itself.

Another quick question, i was reading about the motherboard i chose and it is recomended to have a larger case. Is that case large enough for that motherboard and if not what is? (i would like a window as it is going to be "on display")

That CPU is not too powerful. AMD Bulldozer CPUs are hyped up as being fast, but they're really quite awful. You'd be better off going with an LGA1155 motherboard with an Intel Core i7 2600k. ;)
 
I have a wayyyy better build put together, but it's either a single monitor and in budget, or if you can go up to 2900 then it's a tri-monitor and a sound card. the thing is gaming on dual monitors is just a terrible idea, the bezzels meet right where your crosshairs will be, so it's either 1 or 3. and also there are a few places i could cut down at some, but this would be a beast

thanks to both of you! i will see if i can bump my budget up that high because i think it would be awsome to have 3 monitors.
 
I just discussed this with my mom and she does not want me to get 3 screens because of reasons she wont tell me -___- So i guess its 2 screens. I really wanted 2 screens so i could play on 1 screen and then have youtube or music or something on the other screen. But i do want the option to be able to stretch the game across both screens when i feel like it. Can you suggest a build for something with 2 screens?

You can't do that unless you play your games windowed.
 
on yours or mine? the one i recomended is moduler (which means the cords can be unplugged from the back to reduce clutter), is a great brand, very efficient, and 850w is plenty for 2 7970's, you can run 2 6950's on one easily, really you can run 2 6950's on a 750w.
 
well with your build it would be $3,301 for 2 monitors/graphics cards.... Could you just re-link the build you are talking about for 2 monitors because i am very confused now.
 
Dude you only need one GPU.

Right Click Desktop
Select Screen Resolution
Go into Advanced Settings
Select AMD Vision Control center
Select box that says AMD Vision Control center
Select pull down on left "AMD Eyefinity Multi Display
select the create option. It will allow you to set up Eyefinity with 2 screens.

I mean if you feel like you absolutly have to have 2 GPU's there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. With the 1155 you will be running x16/x8 however doesn't matter really I feel better with x16/x16. why pay the extra for a good GPU and cheat myself out of that extra x8 PCIe bandwith.

there is very little performance lost in a x8 setup.

Multiple High resolution monitors will perform better with a Dual card setup. That is why Dual card is there.
However, yes, you can run multiple monitors on a single card. A 6970, 7970, GTX570+ or similar should have no issue with 2 1080p monitors unless doing heavy gaming like BF3.
 
And your going to notice the great difference of SLI on a Hannspree By HannsG?? I don't even know why I am here.. If you used one card you would notice a huge difference if you use the money for the second Radeon HD 7970 to buy better monitors. You get what you pay for. I have no doubt that they last a long time. And you will not find anyone dock points for poor screen quality on a $150 23" screen.

The cheapest Monitor I would go with is ASUS.
You can always upgrade later though. And you could always get a second GPU in 6 months to a year if you wished.

I may be wrong, but dont nvidia cards need to be in SLI to use multiple monitors? Or do you only need SLI if your using more than 2 monitors?
