Grrrr installing the AC Freezer 7 Pro SUCKS!

i was trying to do a good job to install the ACF7P and one of the pins was a pain to install, and i bent the pin against my motherboard. i got mad and decided to take it all out and start from scratch, so i cleaned off the CPU again and the heatsink. and once again, i had to restart because the last pin would not go in. i decided ill just try to get it in without re-applying thermal paste. anyway, my question is this:

is it really bad that i took the heatsink off the cpu after i applied the thermal paste? how much will it effect my temps?

with my Q6600 @ stock with the stock HSF:

idle/load
49/68

with the ACF7P

39/58

are my temps ok?

i know this is confusing but any help received is really appreciated.

I did the exact same thing when I had the AC Freezer Pro. Pain in the ass it was!

I took it all off, bent the pin back and put it on, just like you did. I actually think it's written in the Engrish manual that it's mandatory to bend a pin on it when you're trying to install it :cool:

Is your Q6600 OC'ed at all? 71c is Intel's max for our CPU.
 
i do have thermal paste on. i have AS5. but my question is: is it ok that i took the heatsink off after i applied the AS5 and put it back on? (as5 is still on there, all of it.)
 
If you have paste on there it should be fine (I misunderstood your first post my bad)
I had to use a screw driver to straighten the pins while installing it.
Its a great cooler once you get it on there.
Is it pushed down correctly those temps seem high.
Like Korn said is it oc'd?

haha...im glad im not the only one with the problem. i felt stupid. i guess the design of the pins are retarded.

nope, my q6600 isnt oc'ed, even when i try, it shuts off before the computer posts.

Yeah, It's pretty lame.

I'd say those temps are Ok. I don't know what air flow is like in your case though?
 
probably really crappy. lol. i broke the front intake fan (it was useless anyways), and i took off the 2 crappy and loud side fans, and now all i have is the AC freezer 7 pro and the 80mm exhaust which is OK (i think?). so yea, no air flow, to add salt to the wounds, my computer is in a small, dark, warm, compartment in my desk (mean for computers to be there, but this is like a 10 year old wooden desk.) so my guess is that there is like no airflow at all. hahaha. :)

edit: the compartment is so bad that when i take my computer out of it, my temps drop like 1-3c. lol.

the exhaust is actaully 120. idk why people say its 80mm. its clearly larger than the 80mm fans. also, the exhaust runs kind of slow.

True it does depend on airflow.
I got a q6600 coming soon so I get to have the joy of installing the fan again.

how come when i try to OC, my computer wont post?
 
Just wondering, but what revision is your CPU? ( there are the B3 and the G0 Q6600's, right? and the G0's were quite a bit cooler than the B3's as far as I remember.)
if its a B3 cpu, i think your temps are ok. :)
 
Can you move your computer out of the corner or box part of the desk it's in to get a bit more of a flow?
 
the AC7 pro is crap,i had one and didnt like it either.

the wire came out of mine lol.

Probably the vCore isn't high enough, Knock it up a notch, see if that works.

Correct, Yeah. It could be the B3 revision. I never even thought of that! Good thinking! ;)
