Ok I've tried the graphics section but can't seem to get the answer I want.

I currently have a 9800GX2, what would be a good upgrade?

Sell my 9800GX2 and add more money to buy a GTX280? - Best card but not worth price tag? Probably wont be able to afford SLI before card goes end of line like 8800 Ultra

Sell my 9800GX2 and buy a GTX260? - Lower performance than 9800GX2 if im correct? More likely Ill be able to afford another for SLI in future.

Sell my 9800GX2 and for cash made could easily afford a 4870 x2? - Basing this on the 4870 CF results it isn't far off the GTX280? However would be limited as my board is Nforce so no crossfire etc plus not keen on ATI's drivers.

Or just buy another 9800GX2? - I heard they sorted the quad sli drivers? Which could be a more suitable route than 2 GTX280s but only if drivers for quad SLI are sorted?

So any advice is appreciated, experts would be good 2

Thanks in advanced.

I voted quad sli but why do you need to have latest + greatest. Upgrade in 3 years

thats coming from mr. 8800 ultra sli :P
i voted for 4870x2 cause the HD4 series rapes the crap out of the 2 series
edit:: also quad sli offers only very marginal performance gains the only quad gpu config that offers 50% or more performance gain on 4 gpus vs 2 is crossfire

I voted none since it's already the top card, but if you really want to upgrade then waiting for the 4870x2 would probably be the only option.

Don't sell anything, don't buy anything. Keep the card! ;)

It's the best thing out there in many cases, you won't see a difference that's worth the hassle of selling and waiting for the HD4870X2 and such.

Your card is powerful enough for a year at least. :)

yeah that is a pretty nice card you have there.. unless your seeing poor performance in games... which i dont think would be possible :), then dont worry about upgrading just yet. wait like 6 months or a year when new cards will probably be out and games are more demanding and actually need the upgrade

I also heard that nVidia have held back performance on the 9800Gx2, maybe it will improve with new driver and physix when released in July? From the other topic I read someone got 30fps more in Cod4 using beta driver for physix ....?

a pair of ati 4870s beats out a pair of gtx 280's and a pair of gx2's on gaming benchmarks, 118 fps compaired to 98 fps :S

the ati hd4870x2 is the bomb, but you could also buy two hd 4850's for under 400 dollars and crossfire em'.

I voted 'None'... If you really, really want to sell that card. Buy two 8800GTS 512's. They beat the 9800GX2 and sometimes the GTX280, and they'll cost less ;)

OMG, one HD4870 is enough. There'd be no point in selling the 9800GX2 if hes gonna get 2 HD4870, that'd be just as expensive and you wouldn't even see a big difference.

I vote, keep the card!

HD4850 costs $20 less than the 8800GTS (G92) and performs better. ;)

I know Danny, I'm an ATi guy! :P

Oh right, Well, in that case, IF you want to sell that card (Which is already more than enough). Get two 4850's.

Haha! For life? Remember, We've got Cookies! :D

Ok well in the UK the GTX260 and 280 just dropped by £50 - £100.

GTX280 is now about £324 and GTX260 is £216

My offer for 9800GX2 is £260

Are they worth it now? Take in mind I would be replacing the 9800GX2 in September ish time but selling it now. So price might drop more? The idea of GTX280 or GTX 260 in sli sounds sweet, even tri sli.

The 4870 or x2 will perform as good but I have an Nforce motherboard so no tri or quad crossfire.
