Alright, so here's the deal, I've built my computer, shown it off, and now my uncle has "hired" me to build on for my cousin.

So here are my restrictions: $750-$800 max for the computer, we already have the monitor, etc. Oh I forgot, we live in the US, we are using http://www.newegg.com, and it's going to be used for gaming.
*Sorry if there's too much unnecessary information. I've already picked out a couple of items, hope you guys can help improve on it.

I'm not sure about the motherboard I should use, or the RAM Memory. I've also heard that the Intel i5 is better for gaming than AMD processors?

What about this RAM? Is it a cheaper alternative?

EDIT***********
I checked all the prices and they are a little bit too much. Keep in mind that I can only spend $800 MAX, I am not paying for the computer.

I would change the CPU to this one.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103696

Save a little money and get a 770 board.

Change the drive to this one.

The memory will be fine if your going to use the stock cooler, that ripjaw is alittle taller and a big CPU heatsink can get in the way. AMD boards have the bad habit of putting the memory slots to close to the CPU bracket.

This is the absolute best I can do with an i5, and I would not be ashamed
to own this.

Keep in mind, this board will not SLI or Crossfire, so you'll be stuck with a single GPU, but hey, it's still a top end build.

You can add more RAM later too.

$763.91 before rebate.

Intel Core i5 750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz ($199.99)

Intel BOXDP55WB LGA 1156 Intel P55 (99.99)

G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR3 1066 ($44.99)

OCZ StealthXStream 600W ($69.99)
($59.99 after Rebate)

ASUS Radeon HD 4850 ($99.99)

Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB ($69.99)

HP Black Multiformat DVD Burner W/LightScribe ($33.99)

COOLER MASTER Elite ($34.99)

Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders w/ Tech Guarantee - OEM ($109.99)
Includes free Windows 7 upgrade coupon

I'll try to post an AMD build next and see what happens.

I know I can cut costs by going with the triple-core, but my cousin's going to be using the computer for a long time, is a quad-core worth the money?

Pretty good setup. Is he interested in overclocking or the type that would try to unlock the 4th. core on a 720. Most 720 will unlock the core, but some (dont). All three of the ones I have had would. A 720 would save you 50 bucks.

No, I'm pretty sure he won't and I can't really do that either :p So should I get a 720 or the 945?

Trying to unlock it is easy. Just go into the bios and set ACC to Hybird and the cores to auto. Reboot and thats it. Well you know my answer, I have the 720 unlocked at 3.7ghz. But this one was bought the first week of release. To complicate the issue you have the Phenom II X2 550BE for 102 bucks or even the Athlon II X4 620 and 630:D

Lol, translation please? I'm still quite a nub when it comes to the BIOS.

When it boots you start hitting the Delete key. The bios will come up. You just find the ACC setting and change it from Normal to Hybird then right below that you set the cores to Auto. Save and Exit. Thats it.
