Is AMD comparable to Intel?

Well actually I used to build Athlon II X2 systems for dirt cheap, for my relatives that just use their PC for internet pretty much. But since the E3200/E3300 wolfdale celeron's came out, I switched to intel. I had an Athlon II 245, it overclocked to about 3.8ghz max on air. The E3200 I got to 4.2ghz, in fact it would clock to 4ghz on the stock cooler, that last 200 mhz really needed more voltage. And now, the E3300 is just $3 more (was like $10 more when I bought the 3200) so you get an even higher multiplier.

I'm yet to see an athlon II or phenom II that I cant get above 4.2 on air :good:

And where are you seeing them? Being MOST cannot break 4ghz. What athlon II's have you ran?

Just looking at HWbot at wprime 32m results 0-1500, there was 5 athlon II's in there in the 1200-1500 range with clocks of 3.6-4.0ghz. Only one cracked 4ghz on air. Couple were even on water.

It's not the chips fault its the overclockers :P Ive ran sempron 140's unlocked still hitting well over 4, 235 240's 250's 435's 425's 400e's 640's 255's and the mythical 265. Get the picture? :P If you know how to do it and have the right board for the job then it's a walk in the park. sitting at 5.2ghz atm waiting for my temps to come down before shooting at 5.3 :D

Well all I can say is you are really lucky with your chips. My sempron 140 would only unlock if it was undervolted to 1.15v and consequently had to underclock to 2.2ghz as well for it to boot.

Lets see a screenshot with prime95 stable for at least 1 hour ^-^

Never seen a truly stable 5.0ghz+ chip.

I am now but obviously I'm not talking about that, I usually run my chips on air or water then phase all have been stable or at least bench stable well over 4 in most cases, dont think Ive had one under 4.25 on air so far And 5ghz isn't stable on on phase no matter what chip it is you would need a really strong rotary or a cascade for 5ghz stable. I leave it at 4.7 with a 3.3ghz nb and 1550mhz cas 5 ram ;)
Got this about an hour after the chip got delivered today :D http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=996603 couldn't find my 5.3 saved cvf but that's on all 4 cores, going to do a bit more tomorrow.
