My (Possible) New Computer-Suggestions

AMD 8 core isn't bad. It was made to be cheap, stable and good for gaming (not most powerful gaming ever). BF3 will work on this CPU well. Intel i7 LGA 2011 6 core is fastest and powerful. Intel i5 2540K is more fastest than AMD FX-8150 8 core.

take look at link here http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

Okay thanks, what do you think about the cooler/heatsink, I don't think anyone has really talked about it. What kind of OCed speed do you think I could get to, could I get to 4GHz with the cooler and be okay?

either Thermaltake or Coolermaster is good CPU cooler. Also i wouldn't recommend anyone to overclock. It can reduced lifetime of your CPU, motherboard, RAM and other hardware. The more heat, the more reduced lifetime. Keeping lowest temp of CPU and motherboard will get more lifetime for you. I have Thermaltake Armor 60A and it keep under 22 C CPU and 30 C system. that will get me up to 15 to 25 years using PC.

Hey, I'll be using the same build as the OP. Will this be a good set up for future upgrading? What's the first part that's going to need upgrading? Going to start ordering my stuff next week :).

I'd guess either the RAM or the HDD, but is that something you should be thinking about before you order it? :D

It's at the very top of my budget as it is right now. Whats wron'g with the current HDD? I'll probably get an SSD in the next few months along with some more ram.

I just meant size based, for some people 500GB might not be enough.

That hard drive seems kinda expensive. Is there a cheaper option that would have similar performance?

These ones here are much cheaper. How much worse are they?

Do you think maybe I should go with AMD? I noticed this is an eight-core processor, AND it's cheaper, I wanted to your opinions.

The 8 core is not really how it is. It has shared components that make it just a little better than a HT quad, but less than a true 8 core. The Zambezi does clock very well from what I hear though. As does the SB, so not really a plus there.

For gaming, the 2500k will kick its arse in most cases.

Just got here, it looks amazing!

Let us know how your build goes. I'm curious if the heatsink will interfere with the ram slot on this motherboard. I'm going to start ordering mine next Friday. I should have enough money for most of the parts by then.

How long did it take to ship?

Just ordered most of my system. CPU and GPU will have to wait until next week.

So excited! Wondering how far along the OP is? Any updates?

Just ordered the Mobo! My build is going to take a much longer time than yours is, mainly because of age limitations, but I hope to have it done by Christmas. I'll update with pictures or maybe a video as soon as it comes in!

Ah, I didn't realize you were just a teenager. I've got my whole build sitting in my room but the stupid video card is taking forever to ship.

Well, let's just say this build is gonna be done MONTHS before I thought it was. I was able to order the i5 and RAM way ahead of time, and so, with the help of my 9500GT and old PSU, I got to boot it! (Time for the sob story) One stick was DOA..... So I had to RMA it an it should be coming in around Friday-Monday. I'll keep you updated and try to have a first boot up ASAP!

Good deal man. That's too bad about the bad memory stick, but not a big deal. You're lucky you were able to put your build together now, due to RMA/return complications later on. Definitely preferable to catch the bad memory stick now, rather than months from now. The possibility of bad components is by far the #1 reason why it's usually not a good idea to buy a system piece by piece over a long period of time. I was actually cringing slightly while reading through this thread, due to that very reason. Glad everything worked out and you were able to build months earlier. :)

Cheers.

Well, it's in working order! I'm gonna wait till the mid-tier 600 series is released before upgrading the GPU though.
