To me it doesn't really matter. I know that nVidia has the best card out right now, but then ATi is going to come out with something a little bit better and then the process continues...

Im pretty sure no current Nvidia card can beat the X1800XT 512mb, the only card set-up that can beat it is the 7800gtx in SLI.

Undecided here... nVidia is definetly on top with performace, and they had the best quality TV Out back with the GF2, but things have really changed in that respect.

My ATI Radeon 8500 had an awsome mode called Theater Mode which allowed me to play ANY overlay video on the TV while I did whatever I wanted to on my machine(I still say they stole that idea from ME  ) But yeah.... I guess for performace, Nvidia

ATI has some really nice cards, but nVidia has the best card currently out.

But i would choose a x1800XT 512MB over a 7800GTX 512MB anyday.

Well, lets see if anyone with one card ccan beat my score

You honestly think you have the fastest card on the planet? ATi made a special ATi X1800XT 512Mb just for you? Sweeeeeeeeeet how did you pull that off?

is there a specific reason for that?
Yes, a few:

First, they are much cheaper.
Second, I prefer crossfire over SLI
Third, I've been very happy with ATI cards.

Im not saying that they perform better, but i would rather have that card.

Have you even used a crossfire board? There must be some available by now but I've heard almost nothing about it since they were hyping it up a year ago.

With ATI and Nvidia being just about the only two brands available on the market there is not much choice and both of them have their pros and cons. ATI is probably leading the way in driver stability and its HD performance, but for pure gaming experiance Nvidia seems to have designed their latest cards with the highest performance outperforming ATI. The performance is just marginal, but it is still better in Nvidias direction. After that said I would probably steer towards ATI because of stability and technology advances in their HD output compared to Nvidia. It still comes down to your pocket book!
