I, even though i have an Nvid, would have to go with ATI... My friend has the 1900 and it is insane. And- not that loud. Should it be that big of a deal anyways? if you look at my sig, I have the euivalent of miniature wind farm (in the opposite direction). I really dont mind at all- just have the speakers turned up enough and you cant hear anything else. And who says in combat that you wouldnt get stuck next to a guy with a hairdryer? (all the time). I just dont think its that big of a deal.

It isn't. But in every review that I have seen, the 7900GTX and the x1900xtx have been very close in everything except noise levels, so that is why I would go with the 7900. Well I wouldn't have that much money in the first place...

i've only had one ATI and it was a radeon 9200 pro, gave me the most trouble, couldn't get the driver to work. seems like it wasn't really compatible with my system for some reason? i got rid of that thing so fast, and upgraded to a 6800GT and never looked back. of course it could have just been a faulty radeon?

I say ati

there more simple and powerfull, look at nvidia they have like 50 different actual companies that make there cards, wich one do you choose??

I would go with ati

Whatever suits your fancy- they both make great cards, and they are about the same (dont get mad at me). About the only diff is that they have different art on the heatsinks and different names, and a little software differences. I could only afford the card i have now, and it looked good. In the future, Ill probably get some ATi card, because it will suit me. Or Ill get an Nvid. I dont really go for the brand loyalty thing- except with CPUs, and that doesnt even go very far.

They do offer pretty much the same performance, such as the x1900XTX and 7900GTX. Sometimes ATI is in the lead, and other times nVidia is in the lead. It all depends on who has the newest and best card.

I like ATI because they have better looking cards.
Thats kind of an odd reason. So your saying that you would rather have an ATI x1300 over a 7900GT because the ATI one looks better?

I Would Go For Nvidia Because they have nice visual effects and If U r
looking for budget cards then go fro Geforce 7600GT. Ther are coool......

Man! never read MaximumPC magazine... made me feel so inadequate with my wimpy rig... They are all talking about thier new "other" rig, the one with just an FX-60 in it and stuff... rgh

Ya... is ther another thing i should be looking at when choosing a card?

Yes there is. btw, for an 8 year old you are pretty tech savvy, but read each 101 in each subforum. It will help a lot.

You should be looking at pixel pipelines, vertex shaders, clock speeds, price...

Thats actually a hard choice performance wise. But if i were you, i would go with the 7950 GX2 since it has 1GB of memory, and has insanely good specs.
