There are far more reasons to hate the fast and the furious type movies then just them destroying a 'nice' car. why is this thread turning into a friggen car movie discussion? the analogies work to an extent but don't you think you need a new analogy if you have to explain it?

Like I said, that's not the only reason I hate those movies. I definitely did love that NOS in the GT500, but if you noticed that was a big deal in there, it had it's own flip switch and even that "go baby go" chrome circle around the button (in other words, it was done right). That is how NOS should be used, when you REALLY need speed. I know it's a great thing to use, but I guess the biggest reason I hate it isn't because of how people pretend to know stuff when they say it, but because the people that DO use it say they got such fast 4cyl engines under those hoods, and most of the reason is solely because of the fact they they had someone else install a NOS kit in there for them. I love brute power, not temporary power injectors in engines that shouldn't be used for speed anyway. Give me a Boss 429 any day and I'll show them ricers how it's done, I don't even need a blower in that beast (although I'm not against it at all).

Well most people have their nitrous come on when the throttle is wide open, not by hitting a switch or button. The whole point is to have a short boost of power to get you down the quarter mile.

But I understand where youre comming from

ATI is the best company...nVidia needs to run two 6800 GTs in SLI in order to beat the X850...which in all reality is kind of sad....the X850 in 3DMark05 scores just under the 7000 mark...where the nVidia 6800GT's are scoring just over 8000...hmmm...if nVidia hadn't of patented the SLI technology...ATI would kick there ass. Besides the cost of 2 6800GT Ultras is much more then most people are willing to spend...It is also rumoured that in order for ATI to compensate they will be releasing a Dual Core Card...that is suposedly faster then any SLI set up. There are other things that place ATI on top; over the years we have seen a constant battle between ATI and nVidia for performance, but when nVidia released the MX series of cards, this is when I lost all respect for the company...all these cards are essentialy garbage, not supporting shaders, etc. Never has ATI released a "Value" card...we have always seen both performance and quality from ATI.

Not Always. A 6600GT can beat an x800XT in doom3. SLI creates more work for the CPU so you only get big framerateboosts on graphically intensive, light CPU games.

Don't try and tell me the x300SE isn't a value card, and I believe it was the Radeon 8000 (can't remember which one but it was around this time) that was a reboxed 7500 (again can't remember exactly the model

This is true but they said exactly what they supported and they are/were intended for non-gamers.

ATI makes some good cards, so does nVidia. And they both make some crappy cards.

Not everyone has the whackload of moeny to spend on a gaming card -- and not every one is out for a gamer card. They had a role -- to fulfill the budget gaming and business market -- and they filled that role quite well

Same dealy with the 8500/9000 and 9200/9250 (not quite rebadged but simialr)

i loved my MX-440 card. huge overclocking capabilities :) but it was alot better than my 9200, it only lacked pixel shader support (which is expected, it's an older card) the quality and ease of use was loads better than the 9200.

I don't want to complain, but it's kind of funny how everything I say I get accused of being wrong, yet these guys with their "SLI is the only way to beat the X850" (just like I said) and "Nvidia's MX series of cards....lost respect for the company" (just like I said) are agreed with and very politely contradicted, but I'm barraged with bar graphs and sarcasm when I say it. Funny, funny......

By the way, whoever said ATI doesn't release budget cards, have you not seen the 9550's, 9250's, 9600's, or X300's? That's just right now, in the past they've had plenty too, and I've never seen one card where they leave out giving you a good directx version (like the MX series, of course) for their price.

SLI is the only way to beat the X850
The 850 only competes with SLI in CPU bound games (ie HL2) because SLI needs addional CPU time.

unfortunately theres no graph of all ATI GPUs, if you have one, please post it and circle all the budget cards in red or something :)

Ive tried both and I really just feel that youll get what you pay for, simple as that. Although Im thinking Sli cards are nividias strong point.(lol, but who has enought money for sli...?) I know I cant afford it right now.

Anobody here know which cards are easier and better to overclock

I believe they are both as good as each other. I would recommend buying only from these two companies.
Yeah...luckily the only way you can get something else is with onboard or the occasional store that carries matrox and/or SGI cards (and actually has some in stock)

Ati's crossfire has owned Nvidia and they still havent had time to perfect the drivers.
Before i voted Nvidia but if I could change, now I'd say that Ati is the best.

Benchmarks so far show Crossfire as superior i thought. I think one guy on another forum has a ATi Express 200 (or whatever its called) mobo with Crossfire support he's testing out.

Gotta love how retarded ATi's long term strategic planning is .... they make the X800 series ... scrap it ... make a better series ... and then resurrect the X800 series ;)

i have used both brands, and they are both doing great :) sometimes ti has a better flagship, sometimes nvidia has it.. well.. hope they keep fighting each other.. cuz we get btter cards cuz of that :)
