So I've got my E6300 @ 2.2Ghz, nothing big I know, but my idle temps at 36/37c and load at 55c, is it Ok to carry on?

Those are kinda high, 131F? The highest I would overclock is 2.4, but with temps like that, I'm not sure myself, would continue. How many fans do you have? Is your computer by a window, or air vent?

Kornowski your temps always seem to be high :( I reckon either your cpu and / or you heatsink are concave as, ever thought about lapping?

Your idle status is fine, but you should know that, if you continue, your load temps will go much higher. It is already at 55°C.

I think the recommended temp on load for the C2D is about 70*c. Whats your voltage? i think you could go higher...

They are aren't they! :(

I have 3 intake fans, 1 exhuast and another inside the case (see pics in sig).

It's sort of near a window, but it's winter here, so I can't open it.

I know, they have haven't they! :( I've seen and thought about it, don't know if it'd make a difference though... Maybe 6c or something...

I think they're all too high!

The vcore is stock, 1.3250v, I haven't touched it.

55*c really doesn't sound bad to me, some of the C2D stay with a load temp of 60-70ish. Google it, sounds normal to me :D. I would OC untill load temp gets about 60-65... but thats just me lol

I used to idle at like 52c, which is still stupidly high! Will it keep going up? It will seriously decrease the life of my CPU won't it :(

Youll be fine until it gets to 65 C and upwards. I doubt your going to have the same PC in 6 years time, so does it realy matter about the life time? It will last you for ages with a big over clock any way

I haven't touched the voltage... it shouldn't be that high, should it?

Rekon I could drop the vcore if i get a stable OC and see how low I can get it? what would happen if it was too low, just not boot?

Nah, I won't, well, different CPU anyway, how long do you think it'd last if I carried on?

I have yet to hear of a CPU killed by any OC that wasn't a suicide run.. or even drcrease its life. Just as long as the temps stay within reason.

Just OC on the stock voltage and run orthos to check the stability

Ok. so if the temps continue to get higher, when should I stop? It'll be alright, it isn't often it gets to FULL load I guess...

OMGEA, Yeah, how much is it :P
