I meant to buy a new computer, and Im not planning on spending my life savings. You are missing the question...How is any of that considered 'new' ???
AMD current is dead socket and ancient...totally not worth buying
PCIE 2.0 is ancient...
R7 240 is ancient..
Nothing here is even remotely 'new'.. what exactly are your plans, usage, and budget?
You are not the one buying it. Im not looking for a finances advice, I wouldnt be here if I were. I just wanted to know if there is a big performance loss or not.Ohh I got the question..LOL
but if you pay more than $100 for the pile of old stuff, that's a bad purchase..
Still waiting for a normal answer.Think about it.. 3.0 card... into a 2.0 port...
There was one in the original post. Then you started to criticize my plans. I already know the quality of what Im buying and Im ok with it. Do you know the answer or not?Still waiting for a normal question without the smarmy attitude.
Careful, we aren't suppose to give out financial advice..
Awesome. Thanks that helpful!Just to answer the question: A single PCIe 3.0 card will work just fine in a PCIe 2.0 slot. Before my 8350 died and I switched to Intel I had my 980 ti in a 2.0 slot and I had no issues and at 4K I only gained like 5 FPS.
no problem man, just keep in mind that the r7 240 isn't a good card.Awesome. Thanks that helpful!
I know, but think of this. In my country imported products have 50%-60% of taxes so:no problem man, just keep in mind that the r7 240 isn't a good card.
Maybe not, but it seems to shut you up, so Im glad I put it there. And actually you did. You were giving your opinion without context. I thought that would help you give me a better answer. Clearly you are not interested on helping out.Yeah I didn't need your life story.. Sorry you got all wound up about things.
Enjoy the rig, I guess
If you dont care about that, then you shouldnt be giving advices about how other people should spend their money. You don't know me well, You definitely didn't shut me up, it's just clear your a lost cause and I stopped caring after you decided to be ignorant and give me a sob story about your finances and living in a 3rd world country
... Neither of which I could care less about
How did I get ignorant? I told you, I know the PC Im buying sucks, but I know what Im doing. I thought my life story would make you understand why, and therefore force you to answer the original question, but apparently it didnt.I did care man.. But you got snappy nearly right away.
I wasn't trying to lecture you, I legit didn't want to steer you towards parts or whatever that would be counter productive.
Now I dont really care cause you got ignorant and I have zero tolerance for that.
All the best to you, I'm sure you'll figure out what works for your specific situation.
To be fair, your first post (http://www.computerforum.com/threads/pci-express.238778/#post-2003293) wasn't exactly polite about saying "you understand you aren't buying the latest hardware right?"But you got snappy nearly right away.
Good question. Which seems to have been lost in the nonsensical argument you guys are having about who doesn't care.what exactly are your plans, usage, and budget?
I appreciate you trying to help, but the store Im looking into is in Spanish and in Argentinian Pesos. So it would be really hard. Basically lets say I have around $750 to spend on that, and to give you an idea, the Sapphire R7 240 1gb GDDR5 costs me around $120, and the motherboard I mentioned around $140. Then the AMD FX8320E a little over $230, and two RAM memories of 4gb 1833mhz (DDR3) $80 and a computer case with a 650w source is $80. Thats pretty much all I can afford. Im open to suggestions but I dont have much choice. I really appreciate your good will!To be fair, your first post (http://www.computerforum.com/threads/pci-express.238778/#post-2003293) wasn't exactly polite about saying "you understand you aren't buying the latest hardware right?"

If @Billson has a budget that can be shared I'm sure someone can come up with a recommendation that fits. And you mentioned import restrictions/duties, so if you have a preferred local store with a website we can look at it and do our best to make something fit.
When it comes to graphics adapter or motherboard I havent looked much. I mostly focused my attention on the processor, and regarding that I have analized every possible fact. I decided to stick to AM3+ (havent decided between the FX-8320E or te Fx-8350, but thats another story). The thing is, I cant get my hands on a Motherboard with AM3+ and PCie 3.0. However, with the information I have gathered here, it seems there would be no problem to use a graphics adapter with PCie 3.0 if the mobo has a PCie 2.0 x16, and I understan the Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P has exactly that, so in theor, I could use any graphics adapter with it and experience very little performance loss. That being said, could I buy a better graphics adapter and yet not experience any performance loss? If thats the case then I would definitely consider buying a better graphics adapter.I understand you are on a budget, but have you looked at lower end versions of the new series to compare?
