am i supposed to have like 10 svchosts?
windows cannot find the process msconfig, but i remember seeing it somewhere. any other way to find it?geoff5093 said:go to run > msconfig, then de-select all the things you dont want to load up with your computer. This will get rid of alot of processes.
patrickc284 said:Doesn't that cause msconfig to ask you if you want it to run again at every boot?

patrickc284 said:Wow. I have some of my programs set to load on startup (i.e. anti-virus, firewall, ad blocker). Can you give me any tips on how you got so few processes? Was it just using msconfig and the Run folders in the registry?
you can start your anti-virus when ur pc boots up, i use Norton antivirus 2006 and it isnt loaded all the time, i start it when i scan my compgeoff5093 said:That lowers the processes, but some apps require processes in order to run. Like most anti-virus programs, and many other apps.
geoff5093 said:Praetor, that doesnt count
When i said i had 71 processes, that was when everything except 1 page in IE was open! Mainly because of DesktopX, X-Fi, and Norton.
