Depends on the country you are in

If in US:

G.Skill Ripjaws, they are the best value for money memory, can pick them up for ~$100 from newegg

Which 500GB drive? If caviar green, stay away because they are slow, you would bet better off getting caviar blue or black, or a Samsung F3

DVD/CD drive doesn't matter, they are all just about the same, just make sure you get a SATA one, not IDE. SATA is much faster.

The power supply cables will fit into your motherboard, however I would drop the unit all togethher and get a higher quality one. Corsair, PC Power & Cooling, Antec, Be Quiet!, Silverstone, BFG, Seasonic, XFX, Thermaltake Toughpower are all brands you should be using

hi there im in the uk.what would be the cheapest memory over here.as for the hardrive it is western digital hardrive.thnx

also i will need a graphics card aswell wont i,any ideas.thnx guys.cheap as poss tho plz

There is a little edit button if you want to add to a post, and no need to bump your thread when it is already on the first page of posts.

Which Western Digital hard drive though? They have 3 major ones, Caviar Green, Blue and Black, they have others, but I am betting it is one of those.

What is your budget for all of this, and where are you getting the other parts from? Most major computer distributers don't stock Ripjaws, only Corsair, Kingston and OCZ it would appear, and from them Corsair is your best bet, but without a budget, can't raelly help much further.

Also, I would change the motherboard to full ATX if the case you are getting is also full ATX. Can we have the information about that too please?

hi there,to be honest i dont want togo over 100 quid for memory,as i saidi have purchased the ga-p55m-ud4 and intel core i5 650.i only want 4gb of ram.for the hardrive and dvd drive i dont wan to be spending to much cheapest possible, and for the case maybe the antec 300.i will also need a graphics card to,i dont have a budget so to speak but i dont wanna be spending loads of money.i will find out what kind of hardrive it is.thnx

milhir the link has broke mate

again, you can put more than 1 reply in one post, you don't have to create multiple posts to do it.

If you want to be keeping costs down, the case is great.

Hard drive: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/500G...HD502HJ-SATA-3Gb-s-7200rpm-16Mb-Cache-8ms-OEM

best bang for buck there is at the moment, you could always spend the extra £12 and get 1 and half times the storage, but a hard drive of similar speed:

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/750G...nt-F1-SATA-3Gb-s-7200rpm-32MB-Cache-89-ms-NCQ

For your video card, you will need to get a better, decent power supply before thinking of getting one. nVidia have just released the GTX460 which seems to be the card to bring nVidia back into competeing, as it is slightly better than the ATi 5830, yet cheaper:

http://www.scan.co.uk/Shop/Computer-Hardware/All/GPU-NVIDIA/NVIDIA-Geforce-GTX460-PCI-E-(336-Cores)

but are on prorder at the moment, so you may have to wait. If you don't want to:

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-...s-2x-DL-DVI-I-HDMI-DP-plus-Aliens-vs-Predator

or I would personally spend the extra and go for the one with the better cooling sollution:

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-...Hz-GDDR5-GPU-825MHz-1120-Cores-DP-DL-DVI-HDMI

and then a much better power supply than the POS you orriginally picked:

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/500W-Silverstone-ST50F-Silent-PSU-120mm-Fan-Dual-plus12V

and then memory:

smaller hard drives are literally £5 cheaper, it isn't a great amount saved to drop to say 160GB instead

As to power supply, you could save ~£15 by getting

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/400W...eries-PSU-ATX-PS-2-UK-Version-3-year-warranty

instead of the other power supply, but you won't be able to upgrade much further than what you already have on it.

You could drop the graphics card to:

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-...z-GDDR5-GPU-850MHz-Cores-800-2x-DL-DVI-I-HDMI

but apart from that, there isn't anywhere else you can save money on really

ok tht fe,i will probs go for tht 400 w psu tho, just to get it down a little bit.all of ure help has been grealy appreciated.i have a much better take on it all now.thnx again

hes spot on there, theyre slow for main drives....but are good for just storage drives.

i have a WD Green 500Gb as storage and its been great.

If you can,try and look for the WD BLACK with the 64mb cache....thats probably the fastest 7200Rpm drive your going to get :)
