Guten Tag and hey there,
Im up to build the best Home Computer i can get but I think I need some help with the parts. Maybe there is anyone around here who knows better about such things than me. Here is what i thought to be in this machine:

  1. Mainboard: ASUS Striker Extreme
  2. CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850
  3. GPU: ASUS EN8800 Ultra
  4. HDD: 2x Western Digital Raptor 150 GB (10000rpm 16MB cache)
HDD: Western Digital My Book 500 GB Pro Edition
  5. RAM: 4GB Kingston HyperX PC2-9600 (4x 1GB)
  6. Cooler: Scythe Infinity
  7. Display: Samsung SyncMaster 226BW
  8. Sound: Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
  9. CD/DVD: Lite-On LH-20A1H
  10. Mouse: Razer Copperhead Tempest Blue 2000 dpi Gaming Mouse
  11. Keyboard: ???
  12. W-Lan: BELKIN N1 WLAN Adapter PCI 802.11n
  13. PSU: Antec NeoHE 550 Watt
  14. Case: I would prefer something ordinary looking. plain. basic. you know... inconspicuous...
but noise killing and with good cooling possibilities.
    maybe: Antec Performance One P180B - Mid Tower - ATX - w/o PSU - black - USB/FireWire/Audio

Welcome to the forum, whats your budget and what will you be using the home computer for?

What are you going to be using it for? Cause if you aren't doing anything that PC intensive then don't go overboard. You can still build a sick PC, just don't go to far and have a sick computer that doesn't take advantage of half of its processing power.

yeah guys go mad. I want to use it for gaming and all the shit im doing. Surfing, Picture and Video editing and shit...

Ok that machine up there looks bad and big, though I dont really understand what it exactly is, how much GigaHertz and how big HDD and stuff.
Im not nerdy about that whole computer thingy... was it in the nineties a bit but that overwhelms my wisdom.
I configured one already that was about 2500 Euro worth (= 3400 us dollar)
but lost the data.
Maybe you know good parts with wich i can create a sick machine, and i try to get them @ my supplier.

shatogtar if i was u i would go down to ur local pc shop and tell them how much u want to spend and what u want to use it for and they will put together an awesome package and then all u need to do is choose a goodlooking case and the rest of the accessories..
but if u were spending any ammount get
two 8800GTX sli GPU's
a quad core
2 raptor 10000rpm hard drives
4gb DDR2 corsair 800Mhz ram
plasma tv with HDTV :D
and surround system:D

i have a shop on the internet, where i can get some discount on high end computer parts.
The parts you mentioned sound very good.
What about a good mainboard and coolers and power supply?

I added a list of GPU's to the top post.
I dont see a difference between them besides the one that the Gigabyte GPU is a "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra" and not GTX like the others.

the 8800 Ultra is a step above the GTX, faster clock speed i believe. dual GTXs would be overkill, SLI'd Ultra's are almost unspoken.

as for mainboards and performance ASUS Striker Extreme is a great one, if budget is of no concern PC Power & Cooling has one of the best 1KW PSUs.

Send me your old computer by mail
I will pay for shipping and give you some money over paypal and 100's of new dvds'
peace

yes welcome to the forum.
One thing i was wondering why a quad core get like a core 2 duo E6600 the only way you will be able to see a difference with the quad is if you do some serious multitasking. if you will be doing that then i am sorry to waste your time.

@ Impulse666 : Isn't a power supply for 414$ a bit overdone? Aren't there any similar products for less money?

@ LE0O37 : what do you want with my old pc?

thanks Roncharlespatton, is that really so? Aren't there any games that need the power of a quad? Or will there be none?

Silverstone as well, and yea 414$ is overprice mostly because of the brand, shatogtar you should read the power supply 101

[*]Display: Is there a nice plasma tv with HDTV? Isn't a normal 22" TFT enough for everything?

yeah well im getting a 22" screen with my build and it will be great.. but if u want the best..the best would be a huge plasma:D:D it would look good with crysis playing on it:P plus u can plug ur ariel into the plasma and have ur tv on the same screen:)

you can also do that on a monitor with a tv tuner but bigger is better:D

I just looked at some benchmarks and saw the the cpu I found at my supllier runs @2.4 Ghz and the best at Passmark CPU Benchmark is the same but runs @ 2.93Ghz. Can I overclock mine to 2.93 Ghz or how is this managed? Or is a Duo CPU really enough?
