Trouble Changing email notification Sound (Win 10)

But what sound do you hear NOW when you get new mail via the web browser? THAT is the sound that needs to be changed in the sound control panel.

Also why not just stop bashing your head through a wall and install Thunderbird on the computer?

The sound I hear now is somewhat of a "chime"......I do not wish to install T-bird at this time......AND, I have tried multiple times to change that sound but, ALWAYS defaults back to the default "chime (sorta a "ding-dong" sound...

Doesn't help that most of the system sounds sound the same. You just need to change them one at a time and send yourself test emails until you find the one sound you need to change.

I'm sorry this is difficult, but you're making it difficult on yourself by not just using Thunderbird.

So I get what is going on:

You are using ProtonMail
You are not using Thunderbird... you mentioned it because you used it on Windows 7
You are using ProtonMail on FireFox.

As mentioned, the Sound Notification you posted is for E-Mail-specific applications. Since ProtonMail is using Notifications, then in the same Sound Notification box, you will need to change the Exclamation option. But as noted, it will change for any other system settings/applications that uses it.

I second that you may want to use Thunderbird or some other E-Mail program so you can change it without changing it for other applications
