What would you guys like to see in Win7/Microsoft Midori?

Here's my list.

Improved file searching
Native ability to burn .iso files
A major overhaul to MSPaint
Color based file organization system
Make it Open Source (yes, i know it'll never happen)
Virtual Desktops
Virtual Machines
More attention to aesthetic details (desktop Anti-aliasing?)
A Microsoft approved Driver system (microsoft test select hardware drivers)
Better OpenGL support (OpenGL>DX)

Share your ideas.

one version instead of several different versions (no basic, home premium, business, ultimate like they did with vista), and make it 64-bit...time to force advancement in computing from 32-bit. cheaper price.

Better file searching? What's wrong with Vista's search box, I think it works great. Anyway I agree that it needs to be 64 bit only, and open source would cool, although I doubt it.

Color based file organization system
Make it Open Source (yes, i know it'll never happen)(yep never:p)
Virtual Desktops
Virtual Machines(they already have a free program out to windows users and a home user will never need this to be installed by default
More attention to aesthetic details (desktop Anti-aliasing?)
A Microsoft approved Driver system (microsoft test select hardware drivers)
Better OpenGL support (OpenGL>DX)

NT 8 / 9 will almost certainly be 64 bit only

MS have announced that Server 2008 and an interim release (windows server 7?) will be the last 32-bit server products.

So the desktop edition will probably go 64 bit too a release or two after that.

Im pissed though, because my laptop only has a Core Duo (not a core2) , which doesnt support 64 bit, whereas my old Pentium 4 (barely) supports pseudo-64 bit (via EMT64)

Mideuri is just a codename, like longhorn (vista) and whistler (xp)

Theese are FACTS

When the next Microsoft OS will be released:
1. People will stick with Vista as they sticked with XP when Vista was released.
REASON: Some stupid guys will install the 64-bit OS on a 32-bit system and they will say all over the internet: "It sucks hard, dont buy it. It crashed and ruined my computer"

2. If it will not be a Windows, it will be known as Windows <name> (e. g. Windows Midori)
REASON: Microsoft=Windows for most of us.

3. No matter the efforts they will make (20 minutes installation or whatever), it will be slower than Vista.
REASONS: People try running it on the mininmum configurations and crapware.

wtf are you talking about

PocketPC/CE, NT and DOS based systems all use the name "windows"

windows is a brand not a system in itself.

same.

no, it runs crap even if you have 1gb of ram
2gb of ram makes it slightly more bearable.

With a core2 and 2gb ram, it still runs slower than xp. The time taken to actually get from power on to a (usable a.ka everything has loaded and the system is idling is far longer than on xp, and its no good to avoidshutting down, by using hibernate, as thats slow too as saving the necessary 2-4gb of RAM to the hard drive takes rather a long time

  • expensive as hell
  • bloated
  • slow
  • interface is silly
  • menu reorganisation is counter productive (personalise takes so many more mouse clicks than the tabs under properties did)

Quick Hijack here.

1. Too much spyware (aka phone home ET)
2. Resource hog. (I thought Norton was bad)
3. On a laptop when you shut down it just goes to sleep and doesn't really shut off. If there is a fix for that I haven't found it.
