You have to take into consideration exact models because there are some toshiba lines that will blow away sony and some that would be the opposite. Sony's are great but are generally very expensive. Unless you get a great deal, I would recommend toshiba.

Both of those are terrible printers. If you're strapped for cash check out some of these on ebay, you'll get a good deal I saw some shipped around $20 when I did a search. To answer your question about the 4 cartridges, it's not too bad but with a brother if you run out of one color cartridge...

you can get a warranty off squaretrade.com and add adh for cheaper than the manufacturer usually. Also get lojack for laptops.

I'm in the same boat as you, I've always been curious but never wanted to spend the money but now I'm definitely considering a macbook or a macbook pro for college and the reason is windows vista. Everything I use, I can do with mac except for gaming which I wouldn't do on a laptop anyway...

if you want a custom but don't want to build it yourself try ibuypower or cyberpowerpc those companies build very good computers for decent prices.

If I were you I wouldn't recommend you buy a sceptre. I sell these at officemax and they always come back either doa or later on with the maxassurance because of a pixel or two goes out. They have very good specs for the price but don't do it.

lots of people run a 10,000 rpm hard drive for the os and programs they run a lot and a 7200rpm for files and other programs but most people won't notice the difference between 7200 and 10000

no question the ibuypower is a better laptop for gaminng. the core2duo is a better processor and it has discrete graphics which will really help you out.
