Workgroup Versus Domain Workgroup Definition. Did I get it right?

Correct, although all clients still keep the local configuration in addition to the domain functions. A little less true. On the internet a domain is nothing more than an adress. For instance computerforum.com is referring to the IP 207.58.188.157. And the domain is running on 4 separate dns...

What type of network do I need?

Ftp would be an easy way to start. Lots of tutorials out there to find. I'd try filezilla server/client to start with.

    connecting 2 different network?

You could just send out a stream using vlc media player. Or some other piece of software. That's not to hard. The problem is how to get the stream to the other site. You could open up a port. Which isn't very good from a security point of view. The other option is to use a (maybe already...

Error on DCPromo when retiring old DC

First a few questions: - What windows version? - DC's are up to date? Second would be to take a look in your event viewer. Take any related errors and throw them in this search engine. As a last resort you could always manually remove the damn thing using adsiedit. Not supported though...

    Windows memory per process limit

Did hear about it... never used it though. You can find out if you have a 64bit windows installation under the properties of your computer. And see if you can get a hold of a 64bit cubase installation (if at all possible). Without either it won't work.

    Windows memory per process limit

@johnb35: nope, not true Assuming it's a 64bit (or 32, doesn't really make a difference) windows with a 32bit process/app. Not going to happen. Can't work around that. If you have a 64bit windows with a 64bit app it should use more then 2GB. Read up here. Want to specify to problem some...

    Router sustainable bandwidth

@ nanobyte: True, it would be nice if they could throw together a testing standard like that. The problem with this is that there still is a user problem. People don't know what to do with routers. And they don't know what they can handle. If you take the auto industry, people know what kind...

    Router sustainable bandwidth

Sorry, having a hard time understanding where you want to go with this. But you want the companies to advertise what they can deliver? You can't just ask every company to advertise exactly what they support and what it can deliver. Under "normal" (surfing and some simple downloading)...

    Router sustainable bandwidth

Ah, so you mean more like at which temperature can router X sustain bandwith Y for a time period of several days? Most of the problems don't really occur from hardware failure (like overheating). They are mostly software related. Router not being able to handle the amount of connections a...

    web server

omg you serious? I don't know the figures but as far as web servers go linux/apache are much more popular. And that's for a reason. It's more resource efficient, easier to manage and much more scalable etc, etc, etc... That you don't take the time to get to learn to manage it is a whole other...

    zone transfer problem

You might want to start at creating a "normal" dns zone. Normally a dns zone is comprised of at least two parts. something like balent.local or google.nl. Also what's the .(root) zone? Never seen that before did you create it?

    Networking Nightmare

Try pinpointing the issue some more. Hook up a laptop directly to the modem and see what the speeds are like. If they're crappy give your isp another kick in the nuts. If they're good you're problem is somewhere between modem and end point. Then hook up the router and hook up the same laptop...

Changing the MAC address of Asus F5V

you can't change a mac adress. it''s burned into rom (read only memory) on the network card. You can spoof it. Windows usually copies your mac to a location and then uses it. it would be better to just call your isp and make them change the mac ;)
