I am looking to upgrade my outdated X850XT with a top of the line model. I cant figure out which is better. I hear the 8800 can handle more textures but the 2900 has more Shader Processing units but the 8800 has 1.45 Ghz shader clock speed while the 2900 has 743Mhz Which card is physically...

imo dont even bother upgrading to vista yet, there are way too many bugs to bother with and if your computer already runs xp fine then stay with it until summer, but if your getting a whole new computer then vista might be an option, but I still say stay with xp a little longer.

yes it doesnt seem worth the $220 more for a 50mhz increase in shader clock but the memory clock is a lot faster on the gtx but definatly not 200 dollars worth more, my vote is towards the gts

That fixes the long pauses but now after about 3 mins of driving it slows down then if I alt-tab and go back in it purrs like a kitten again. Could that be memory related or cpu or both?

Do you think that would be the same as setting affinity to cpu00 only in task manager?
