ok another cpu upgrade issue i built this computer ASUS striker 2 extreme intel C2D e8500 i want to replace that e8500 with a Q9550S C2Q do i need to do anything before i put the chip in? like bios wise or preperation wise?

the gateway support page has the link to the bios "update" so shouldn't that work if its on their support page? and i do know how to put in a processor im just worried about the bios.

and are there any risks of updating the bios? or what about replacing the cpu? could it potentially harm the motherboard?
