Building a gaming PC

Hey. I recently posted a thread about building a pc, asking for advice on compatibility on the components I chose. However, I thought I would post another thread asking for help, on what you guys would put together or an awesome gaming pc for a couple of hundred quid lets and where you would buy the parts.

Hopefully this will give me more of an insight and allow me to build a decent gaming machine within that budget.

Regards.

Lets say a few hundred. £250 - £300. I would like to know what could be done with that sort of money :)

Cheers

probably not much. I am not up on prices over there, but that is about 475 USD. In that budget I would go for:
-Pentium G620
-Z68 or Z77 motherboard, the Extreme4 Z77 from ASrock is great.
- 8GB DDR3 1600
- DVD drive
- Small HDD
- case
- respectable PSU
- HD 6670 or so, GT520 or GTS450 depending on price.

Cheers man. Was just thinking if a decent machine could be made from a relatively low budget as that. I will look into it :)

A lot of what you can do is dependent on if you have any parts to reuse. I built what I have for ~350 and I only had windows and a HDD to use. You should be able to do a pretty good build for that.

You're probably looking at:

Case Antec 300 http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/cases/cases/0761345-08300-3.html

It comes to £382.92 including VAT. You could save money by going for a cheaper board and case. Maybe the money you save my getting an H67 board over a Z77 board you could put towards 4GBs more RAM to get 8GB? Just a thought.

Let me know what you think. By the way Novatech tends to be quite expensive, so have a look on Aria and Dabs too to see if you can save money. I always buy from Novatech though and I've never had an issue.

Cheers for your input mate. Yea I would ideally like at least 8GBs of RAM spread over two modules, at least 1TB of storage as well :)

Ah yea nice pick man. Cheers for the advice. I want a good overall look so I can order my first component later this week and get started. :)

I can press higher then £300. I just was seeing if it was possible to make a decent gaming machine out of that for the time being, as I can just spend money in the future to upgrade components to a better standard.

One query I do have, the RAM to link me is compatible with the ASRock 277 Pro3 motherboard to link?

Yep it is compatible. :)

The only difference between the RipJaws-X and Sniper RAM is that the Sniper RAM runs at 1.25v as opposed to 1.5v which is what RipJaws-X runs at, and of course the Sniper RAM has a cool gun on the heatspreader. ;)

Hahaha well we can't argue with any cool designs now can we. Even if they are going to be invisible to the eye when inside the machine :p

Oh by the way mate. You reckon you could do me a favour please? You reckon you could check on that diablo list of unsupported cards and see if the video card you linked isn't on there and it able to run the game please?

Yea I understand mate. It will do for now. I can invest is a better PSU and Video card as a later date, so at the moment it is not necessary. Cheers again homeslice.

It's best to just buy the best you can at the moment, because if you skimp out on stuff now with the intention of upgrading it later, you're just adding more cost on. Buy the best you can now if possible, you'll be happier. :)

No problems my Essex friend. ;)
