Building a gaming PC

Hey vistakid. I was just looking and the cables that came with the motherboard I ordered 'ASRock Z77 Pro3' are designed for SATA3 6Gb/s HDD's. Can you recommend a good one that is at least 1TB or something that is compatible with this.

Cheers mate

Ah sweet. yea that'll do mate cheers. its only like £15 extra from the Caviar Green so I may as well just invest the extra cash for it... cheers son!

I was going to post a link to the Caviar Green too but I thought as it's not much more you may as well go for the Black. :) No problems by the way.

I wonder if someone could help me out here. I would love to have a separate sound card for my gaming machine as it will also be a machine for my music as well, so I am after the best possible sound.

Can someone please link me or point me in the right direction for a nice decent sound card that is compatible with:

ASRock Z77 Pro3 Motherboard

8GB G. Skill DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel 1.25V Memory

Pentium G840

Radeon HD 6850

Cheers guys.
Best regards.

Hi there! Sorry for the late response, been out all evening.

Yeah that's a good card. I don't really know much about sound cards but the Xonars always seemed good. It will work, just make sure you have a PCIe x1 slot to spare, you should do as you should have 2 or 3 on that board.

Ah alright sweet man well I will add that card to the list then but as it's not really necessary it will be one of the very last things I will think of investing in :)

I have built the pc, turns on and everything just that when i plug the monitor in it doesnt really give any video output. Do you have a form of messenger we could possibly talk over mate? Be a lot easier and quicker for this too if that is cool with you?

Sorry I don't I'm afraid.

How do you mean it doesn't give any video output? Might want to try reseating your graphics card or trying the following:

Try another VGA/DVI/HDMI cable
Try the monitor with another desktop or laptop

The problem is either the graphics card or the monitor - could also be your video cable.

Well I got that problem sorted out and now I have another one. For some reason it isn't detecting my sound card and video card even though they are both plugged in and connected. You know anything about this mate?

Have you installed the drivers? Looking back through this thread you got an ASUS Xonar, correct? Try downloading the latest drivers from ASUS' site and see what happens. :)

yea ok mate I shall give that a go tomorrow.. got work at 6am which i am not looking forward to so bed time in a sec. but cheers anyway and i shall keep you updated tomorrow son :)
