ATI has more superiority in comparison of performance and price.
nVidia has more superiority in stability.
You can purchase better ATI cards with less money.
Overal it's hard to say which is stronger than the other.

ATI has had better particle and shadow rendering for the past few generations and there are alternative drivers not made by ATI avaliable

NVIDIA all the way, for one ATi has slack drivers, when NVIDIA release cards, they actually have releasable drivers, and not Alpha's or Beta's... Also NVIDIA drivers work better than ATi's under Linux ;)

I like the fact that NVidia's drivers are universal more or less, and that you don't have to worry about what exact card you have so much!

i got an ati card and it sucked ass! it keept freezing on me and the fps was so slow that it couldnt animate scrolling on a webpage!!! it would just flash up to the next part of the page! LMAO and it was 64mb all-in-wonder!! ill never buy another ati! go nvidia!!

happens to me every time i re-install my 9200 64MB card. You have to set up the properties right, enable/disable alot of stuff. then all the laggy scrolling, jumpy animations goes away. it wasn't the card, just your settings, because thats how every ATi card has been for me.

jjsevdt, WHAT?!?!?! Nothing is superior to anything else when it comes to graphics cards, other than generations and technical specs (same generation cards compare pretty well to each other), so don't say that. I like ATI, it seems to me that it's like AMD, but the wierd thing is NVidia and AMD partnered up with each other, although you would think that the flashier Nvidia's and Intel's would. Strange and bad in my opinion, I mean that's why my laptop sucks, because Nvidia cuts corners to keep their money and paired with my Athlon 64 3200+, it brings it down quite a bit (MX440).

NVidia has superior cards, but I think they should have an All in wonder type card
1. nvidia makes chips, not cards
2. there is an NV-based all-in-wonder competitor

the fps was so slow that it couldnt animate scrolling on a webpage!!!
Sounds like a poorly configured system/video card rather than a faulty card especially considering any card in the last 15 years is capable of handling scrolling since um... scrolling is a CPU task and not a video task

but the wierd thing is NVidia and AMD partnered up with each other,
They did?

Well with the 7800 GTX out now its no contest. More performance than 2 6800 ultras in SLI. Its ATIs move.
It is ATIs move but the 7800 release wasn't what made it so, it was that the release was combined with availability, it wasn't another product launch on paper

I played on both ATI and nividia. In all honesty, me myself can't really tell the diffiernce in comparable models. I like them both, so I would buy which ever one is cheaper at the time of purchase, although right now I got my eye on the ATI Radeon x800

ati is coming out with the R520 which is supposed to challenge the 7800.

the 6800 is a little better than the X800 because it has 62 million more transistors.

Good point, nothing more frustrating than an undersupplied and undersupported release date... Anybody remember when the PS2 came out???? ;)
