i have heard many things before... therefor they must be true right?Southy said:I have heard that ATI has a problem with drivers, and getting updated drivers...
i don't assume that, but i wish it was like that... things would be alot easier...Praetor said:Whats wrong with 9000 vs 8500 ... (its the 8500 for people who dont know) ... who assumed that a bigger model number meant better?![]()
hmm, i think it is fair to say the both cause problems once and a while...vanp1992 said:I've heard that Ati cards cause problems ounce in a while an Nvidia rearely does
u have speken like someone who has used both...crimsonnblue said:I have had both, Each company makes cards equivelent to eachother is all about getting the biggest bang for your buck.![]()
hmm... apparently you 2 don't see eye to eye...[-0MEGA-] said:nVidia is great for gaming, ATI is great for working with video/image editing/etc.john1979 said:I use both for differant reasons, for my home server/file storage i use Quadro 4 FX3000 256MB AGP 2xDVI-I, and for my main pc on the network (gaming pc) i am currently using an ATI x800.
For gaming i will stick with with ati but for server/network point access i will stick with the quadro seeries of cards.
funny, becuase i bet someone somewhere thinks ATI is better because once upon a time they had a bad Nvidia cardjesbax said:I prefer Nvidia. In fact i have two of them and they use the same set of drivers. The one ATI card i did have didn't lase 3 mounths before it went out.
i was always under the impression that ATI was ran cooler...Chewbacca said:I prefer nvidia 'cause their cards cool better on my comp and they're like rockin' fast for gaming........but their cards are a bit on the large side...
yesPraetor said:How so? It's quite readily accepted that ATi cards run cooler ...
hmm? i don't really know much about their marketing practices, so please fill me in on what they do...Praetor said:I'm Canadian too and Im ashamed of the marketing practices of ATI![]()
sounds like you have been reading rumors...tomprice43 said:ATI always, they always turn out better in DirectX9 games. and not many games are openGL which nvidea are better with.
wow... unless i am in an illusion i always thought the ATI Radeon X850XT was AMAZING for its price, more so than any other card for the price...ZER0X said:Ya with ATI people are paying a bit too much for what there getting![]()

Personally I've always been a Nvidia man, but about 18 months ago I bought Ati's 9800Pro. This period of time has shown me just how great Ati's drivers are, they are rock solid and I love them! But this time I'm thinking about getting myself a 6600GT or a 6800GT. As we all know the #1 bang for buck brand change over time and today it seems to be in Nvidia's favour.![]()
funny, u seem to be missing out on tweaker's way of video cards...691175002 said:GO NVIDIA!!!
My first card was nvidia and I just like their drivers more because I am used to them. Really other than that, I am just loyal.![]()

LMAO and it was 64mb all-in-wonder!! ill never buy another ati! go nvidia!!
i am guessing you are translating one bad ATI card into bad experiencesdeadcow said:NVIDIA: ATI sucks i have had nothing but horrible experiences with them.
that would be a good reason to try ATI...Skizzor said:both but if i had to choose i would pick Nvidia just because I have used them before.
^^a wise manEncore4More said:if i had a decent $1000 to buy a computer i would get a X850XT because i think that is a crazy nice bang for the buck... yet if i had $2000 to buy a computer, i would get the 7900GTX... they both make great cards, they both make terrible cards, they both make excepencive cards, the both make cheap cards, they both have well priced cards, the both have not-so-well priced cards...
personally i think they are both even
