definetly nvidia cuz is the only vga brand i've ever used and cuz i saw a perfomance between these to vga's brand , so i bought nvidia

I changed my mind to ATI.

I just looked at alot of benchmarks and game tests, and the x1800XT beats the 7900GT in practically all of them!, and its also $20 less.

Im selling my card and im looking to buy an x1800XT since its cheaper, performs better, and 512MB memory.

I didn't know that it was better. I was actually considering the 7900GT but now the X1800XT looks more appetizing.

The X1800XT with 512MB is actually $299 at the lowest price. Which is the same as the cheapest 7900GT. It is not $20 cheaper.

I've been leaning towards ATi for a while now. Their high quality AF mode, their advanced ring bus memory controller, Avivo and not to mention the capability of HDR & FSAA simultaneously, makes their latest and greatest R580 products better than nVidias. IMO

Also, the X1900XTX is shipping with underclocked BJ11 modules from Samsung, making 900MHz memory possible when overclocking! OMG

(stock XTX speed is 650/775)

Before i looked at that link i posted above, i thought that the 7900gt was a clear winner. But now im wanting to go the ATI route. I think the 7900GT only outperforms the x1800XT in Quake 4, which is a game thats designed for nVidia.

And yes, HDR and FSAA are a big plus too :)

Heh define 'better'.

If 2 products are pretty much neck in neck and each product wins half the tests, I'm inclined to go with whatever offers the best features. The R580 is a more modern product that outphases nVidia in shader heavy environments (naturally). And dont get me started on the image quality. :)

Oh, and price is also a factor.

I agree with tweaker and Geoff. ATi's looking real good right now. What it might lack in sheer power it makes up in an efficient architecture. I've been really drawn in by the ability to have AA and HDR at the same time though. And yes, 1.1 ns RAM on a $450 card is crazy.

well truthfully I have not have that much exerience with the ati but NVIDIA works for all the programs that I use and thats good enough for me.

I don't really lean either way, I will just go with whichever card is best suited to my needs. However, Nvidia does excel in the drivers department.

According to my MaximumPC mag in front of me now the NV 7900gtx is the best performan card out atm.
It's a close call between that and the X1900XTX, but what would give the 7900gtx the advantage in my book any day is the difference in noise levels with the coolers. Just have a look at these vids, it speaks volumes (excuse the pun :P).

I listened to those videos before buying this card and I must say they are highly over exaggerated, something with the mic capture just isnt right. But you are right the XTX has a somewhat higher level of noise. But the fan never reaches top speed (like in the video) unless you manually set it to always operate at full speed. I have a 6800GT as well and believe it or not the XTX is less noisy when idle (which is whats important to me). :)

Interesting. Obviously I'd like to avoid tampering with the stock cooler on whatever card I get if possible to preserve the warranty (and I will be upgrading soon), but you would have thought for someone to go to the lengths to produce the videos, they would have made sure they were pretty accurate. Obviously they wanted to illustrate a point.

Yes the 7900GTX is the better option if the noise level is crucial. Replacing the cooler with a aftermarket one is an option ($30) but as the stock HSF also cools the 8 memory modules on the card Id rather avoid that.
