^ Two computers might not be a bad idea...maybe stuff it all in one of MM's Duality cases?

Dyslexia FTL...sorry about that

It scales fairly well in terms of how much power you get, doesn't it? ~$1300 for 6-cores and a good mobo, $2600 for twelve...? Seems like a setup like that would hold its own as a workstation for several years to come...

The 980x would definitely still be enough though, you're right.

Would water cooling the chipset keep it cool enough? I think EK supposedly has a block for it...

I'd prefer to have a single work station.. I've had to use multiples in the past and thats one of the reasons I'm investing in this is to have one capable of everything. I've got an hp smallform running (saved it from a dumbass tech at work who was gonna junk it) a custom (my main PC), and an old e-machine for a browsing PC, plus like three more laptops in the house that belong to my GF. It gets ridiculous having data and all kinds of shit on like six machines and maintaining all of them, I'd much prefer one thats capable of handling everything I use.

BTW a bit off topic, but does anyone know if theres an adapter than can be used for that special hp PS connection in the smallforms to make it work with a normal.. say 500 watt PSU?

TheeReaper

It would need to be an adapter for a female 24 pin (or female psu connection in general) to convert to a female 6 pin (its a weird connection hp uses on the small-forms go check it out)

there's an edit button...

You sure it's a 6-pin?

You're looking for something like this, right?
http://www.atxpowersupplies.com/20-pin-to-24-pin-hp-slimline-atx-converter.htm

No, I need a psu, or an adapter, that will allow a better PSU to work with the 6 pin p2 connection thats HP properitary

see the one on the far left? it's similar but idk its hard to describe the connection they use... this is the only time I've ever seen it, its in the hp compaq 6000 smallform

For christ sake I was hoping I wouldn't run into juvenile a-holes here...

First - I said my budget was near unlimited, I never said I was going to spend that much unless it was worth it (which it isn't). I will probably spend around $4,000.

Second - Troll someone else. You don't like my post? Why the hell did you take the time to read it and reply then?

Third - Yes I will abso-****ing-loutely post some pics when I get the pieces (somewhere around a month before I start).

Fourth - **** off

Check the reply to your buddy, it applies to you as well.

**** I feel like I'm on YouTube listening to some prepubescent emofags bitch at me because they like to listen to the Jonas brothers while they cut. Is there really no place on the internets without moronic juvenile ****s anymore?

Watch your language, or you will get yourself banned real quickly.

200bclk is about as high as your gonna get on air or water, sham needed ln2 on the chipset just to get ~240bclk IIRC.

^ Holy crap...

Maybe just skip the overclocking then? That CPU is still a beast, and could probably use its Turbo quite a bit with a good cooler.

Elimin8or's build is good but the only two things i would change are the video cards instead of 4 x 5870 i would get 2 x 5970. Also i would get a different mouse. Either logitech g500 or logitech g9x. (I had very bad experience with Razer :( but never with logitech). That's my opinion on the build but either way Elimin8or's build is perfect too. :)

true, its alot easier to have all the files saved on one computer rather than transfering them around. (unless you set up a network to share files).

If you have more than 1 computer and do not network them, you are doing it wrong.:)

I did have a network set up, but my gf got her identity stolen, and she blamed the network share (shes techtarded), so to keep the peace I had to lockdown all the computers. Now its USB stick or external harddrives to keep data between them....

yeah girls are like that lol.
a USB or external hard drive would take too much time to transfer files, would be best to stick to one pc then.

Reaper, stay around this forum, you will see why they said the stuff they did. I've only been here 5 months, their are a lot of people that come here posting ridiculous build request, and know they will never buy it. Also, calling people morons based on their age? I believe that makes you a moron, to judge someone by their age?

Once you get older you will understand. Trust me, some of the things younger people do or say is the same crap I used to do or say, so we all know....

I'm gonna assume you need a 6pin aux connector:

But your still subjecting one group(whether it be a large majority or a small amount) to a negative thought. I mean, I can say that (enter percent) of dark people steal, so that make all dark skinned people thieves? See, now a lot of people would get offended.
