    You should connect the old hard drive to your new computer(this means you have to open the computer case and connect the hard disk power cable and data cable).Power on,and copy your old files to the new hard drive.

    If computer starts and the screen shows anything,the RAM propably is working fine.It might a overheating problem,check if the cpu fan is working.

    According to the .gvp extension,I assume it's a Google Video file. You could try donwloading the Google Video Player from here,and then try to open the file.

    Well,4mbps is 0.47684 megabytes,so for example a 650mb file whould be downloaded in 22 minutes.IF the connection operates at maximum speed(which is a bit difficult).But in general 4mbps is a pretty fast for an internet connection.
