Nope, that definitly could be it. A live cd cant display the xserver (graphic interface) if it can't talk to the video card, and since it's the same video card then it's most likely the motherboard.
No... You cant do that. The file wont be read on another computer. I know a lot of people who suffer from that after they reformat and want to recover some files off of another partition.
For zenity?
example:
zenity --question --title="Proceed?" --text="Are you sure you want to continue?"
if [[ $? = 1 ]]; then
(rest of program goes here);
else exit 0;
fi
Hope this helps.
Making it compatible would be close to impossible for one man alone. What i could do is have an option to run winxp ontop of the x server layer so it appears to run natively but really is just a lightweight virtual machine.
Definitly do safe mode. Also, dont stick with one application when doing the scans. Try using several anti-virus (dont run them at the same time, just scan and exit). Also run some spyware scans as well. And post a hijack this log as well.
Mfg.: ATI

Stock Memory: 200
OC Core: 650
OC Memory 550
And those are actuall speeds, not the effective speed. Stock cooling. Can you beleive that?
The beryl does come installed default on ubuntu. Sorry i didn't clarify, i am going to be doing this with ubuntu gutsy, not ubuntu feisty. It actually comes with compuz-fusion. If you haven't tried it, i highly recommend trying it out. It blew my mind...
Does this apply to video cards as well?
I got my ati 9550 from 250/200 (400 effective) to 650/550 with stock cooling. You think i am kidding but i am not.
Vista really isn't that bad. This is coming from a guy who uses linux 24/7. It's not the greatest (but what else is comapared to linux :P) but it's fairly decent. The only thing is that you need a little extra ram but doesnt seem to be a problem for you since you will be getting at least 2gb.
