cannot logon to win XP due to password, cannot start in safe mode due to crash

It sounds to me like the software had you on a domain and when you uninstalled it it left you on the domain. Try going into safemode and then right click on whitespace in my computer and go to computer name tab. then click change and say it's part of a workgroup rather than a domain. Just a...

I want to connect free wifi to linksys to distribute

Use a wifi repeater. See if you can't install dd-wrt and then follow this guide http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Universal_Wireless_Repeater

    Buying a new monitor

No problem, I just hope it turns out better. Good luck.

I want to connect free wifi to linksys to distribute

You would setup a wireless bridge. Here's a guide I found that may be useful. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=36&threadid=1513386 Also, I would suggest getting DD-WRT if it's possible for you router. since it has a lot more flexibility than normal firmwares.

    Buying a new monitor

I've never owned the other two brands, so I can't really say either way. The decisions is up to you though. I'm not sure how large of a difference it will make but I know that response time is supposed to help with ghosting. Ghosting could be caused by a lot of things. Bad cable connections...

    BSOD problem

I also suggest running memtest to ensure that the RAM isn't the problem. Apart from that it may be a really strange hardware problem or somehow your windows install is messed up. Run a chkdsk to make sure everything is in order with windows if you can.

    Which XP should I used...

Try calling sony to see if they can send you a replacement disc. Even if it costs money it will probably be cheaper than a new copy of XP. I've worked on computers where the owner no longer had the cd, so what I did for them was use one of my xp cds and for activation call Microsoft and ramble...

Small web server: Win 2k pro vs Linux

I'd recommend ubuntu server edition. I've used it for a variety of reasons on more machines than I can count. Since you want a webserver, just install LAMP when you're installing ubuntu so everything is setup for you. Then all you have to do is put your web files in /var/www and you're good...

Having trouble installing Windows Xp 64-bit edition

Also, most people that haven't burned an iso before just burn the iso file onto a data cd, which is not going to work for you. If that's the case, you need to burn it as a disc image rather as just a file on a cd. Also, check your boot order, if your hdd is set before the cd drive then it's...

    Buying a new monitor

I'd probably go with the LG, just for the quicker response time, even though it doesn't have the best contrast ratio out of those. Unless you want the higher resolution, but your ps3 is going to cap at 1080 (correct me if I'm wrong).

    Help Please...

I'm not sure what you were using to setup dual boot before, but if I were you I'd try and install grub and see if it will boot after that. Check the following link for instructions on doing that: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=224351

Start butten prob, and some other aeras, (aft comp dump)

Sounds like the crash messed up some stuff. Run a chkdsk to make sure it's alright. As long as it doesn't keep crashing you shouldn't have to reinstall windows.

normal cpu usage when playing games

I'm surprised it's only that high. Depends on the game though. Games are really hard on the CPU since there's so many calculations involved, but it should be nothing to worry about.

    two os system.

Setting up multibooting is easy. And yes, you should be able to do it with any OS. I prefer using GRUB as the boot loader but that's just me. I recommend setting multibooting because it's really great carrying around a laptop running Windows, OSX and Ubuntu.

Cannot change HDD password in bios

I don't exactly get what you're saying but it sounds like it's a BIOS password. If it is then just unplug the computer, pop it open and take out the little button cell battery on the motherboard. Wait about a minute (usually not even that long, but just in case). Then put it back in, plug it...

    Dead PC

That's what it sounds like to me. Double check your connections and check if there's a switch on the psu to turn it on :) that one always gets me... usually there is an led on the motherboard that is on if it has power. Is it lit?

    Do me a favor!

Plugged your exact specifications into newegg's power search and it returned no results. Also, that laptop is open box, which I don't exactly trust.

    Cleaning up a computer?

Run through your add/remove programs and uninstall things you don't really use anymore. You'd be surprised the amount of stuff you install over time. After that I'd recommend running CCleaner which may or may not clean up a significant amount of garbage files.

windows 7 beta build still function

He may still mean the beta. I just made the assumption that everyone who had the beta would've jumped on the RC as soon as it was available. Sorry if that assumption was wrong. But still, is there any reason to upgrade at the moment?

    the best thermal paste

From my experience, arctic silver will keep it a couple degrees cooler than stock paste. However, I read a guide a while back about a guy who made his own paste out of diamond dust (which has a significantly higher thermal conductivity than silver) and some kind of silicon paste and it...
