you might be able to go to 3.0ghz but i wouldnt go further then 2.8 especially with the stock heat sink, when u run it all your cores on 100% how many minuites did you run it for, if it can run for 30 minuites in the 60c zone then this is okay, i run mine oced at 3.6 and gete 60c oc and 30 idle

im ocing my processor trying to get to the complete highest clock staying max 1.6, but i dont know what to put the voltage for motherboard and ram, can this be put on auto and work? what did u set them under for your processor?

this happened to me before to with my q6600 and 680i, what i did was update bios and the only other reason it would be doing that if you didnt overclock it right, make sure you have the right voltage for everything, keep ram unlinked and things like that

q6600 not major differnce between 2.4 and 3.0 and i got this q6600 to 3.6ghz

see if there is a updated driver for your mobo

get back to me on how hard you can push the q6600 and your temps, i have a swiftech to but smaller radiator and 3/8 tubing as well, and if u have go or b3

but thats a pretty good notebook to have a 2.8 p4 inside it, never say a notbook with that high clock of a p4, thing must die easily and get really hot

a 1.8 will beat the preformance pretty far

make sure you have the side bars exited and i think a good disk defrag would help, most likely its taking longer to find data if you have more files i would predent, or if it gets ot try cleaning the dust out-good luck
