Heh, welcome to the internets.
Here's what I'd suggest, so far:
--I'm having trouble locating a motherboard, and the CPU I think would work best isn't on newegg yet, but this is shaping up to be an awesome build. I'm trying to find a motherboard that can handle-and overclock- two of these:
http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=47926
Two of them makes twelve cores, twenty-four threads, and only 60W each, which means they should have some awesome OC potential.
--For the GPU, I'm thinking two Radeon HD5970's in crossfire. The GTX 480 is good too but 1- I don't know if the chipset supports SLI and 2- they use a crap-load of power and have been known to kill the i7 980x in quadfire. You also get eyefinity with the 5970. Two of this one would be fine:

--Bomber was nice enough to point out the right RAM and PSU...that'd be these:
PSU-

RAM-
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231335 (Two of these kits would work fine. Most dual-socket 1366 boards will support either 12 or 18 DIMMs)
--For the case, I was thinking a mountain-mods ascension. (even before bomber mentioned them, haha) Read the review, or at least the last 2 pages, and tell me what you think (They come in black, btw)

Here's the thing to build it with..you get to pick your parts

If you get it, make sure to grab the E-ATX motherboard tray.
These add-ons would all be good/useful/fun..all just ideas:
Fan controller-

--These drives should work well:
OS-

Storage- 2x
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136456 (same as before...caviar black 2TB in RAID1)
Blu-Ray/DVD- (same as before)

I think you'll need one of these adapters, or one like it:
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=330-5521
--OS- one of these (I'd suggest ultimate...it's not much more than pro)
Win7 pro-

What this leaves-
Mobo- no idea on this one. I'm sure there's one that will work but I have no idea what it is. This would work well, but I don't know if it can overclock:

Fans- The case doesn't come with any. I'd guess you want red LED fans? Anyone want to chime in here? I'd assume Coolermaster R4's would be ok...?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&cm_re=coolermaster_R4-_-35-103-063-_-Product
CCFL's(internal lights)- Again, no idea which ones are best...help?
Cooling- The CPU's are 60W, which is really low for a CPU like this. It shouldn't take a whole lot to cool them, which means that a couple of good air coolers would work quite well. Water cooling would, obviously, be more effective, but it seems like a WC system like that could be pretty complex. I'm no expert on that though...can someone else chime in?
CPU- I know the right one to use, but I can't find any known-to-me stores that have it. Is Provantage ok?

Sound card...? You might want one but I'm clueless. The only ones I've used are for recording...
So far this is looking to be a $5000+ rig, but it's fast enough that you could use virtual machines to run 3-4 dedicated game servers at the same time on one screen, while
playing a game at above 1080p on another screen, and rendering a huge clip on the 3rd screen. It's an absolute monster. It hasn't been too long ago that this would nearly be considered a supercomputer.
