I would say the best thing to do now would be to totally format the Hard Drive and then reinstall the OS. If your computer has a recovery partition it will come in handy.

Yea I don't think it will work... If the person that is selling it to you gives you his account it might, but I am sure you would prefer to create your own. I would have a talk to the person that is selling it to you and ask if it will work.

When you enter the XP disk does it ask you if you want to format the HDD???

Is this the hard drive with the OS on it? I am guessing that it isn't... If you have another computer then try connecting the HDD to that and then see if it works. If that dosn't work then I think it would be impossible to retrieve the data off of the HDD.

To overclock something is to push a device (Usually a CPU) past it usual operating speed. Usualy CPU's are overclocked to enhance performance, but if you were going to overclock a CPU you need to know that it will greatly increase the temperature of you CPU. Most CPU's can be overclocked...

If your computer is having to shutdown because of the temprature of the CPU then it may be time to introduce water cooling or other cooling methods... eg. Better fans, copper rods. If you CPU is almost reaching its max temperature then either water cooling or a different cooling method should...

Ok I would recommend connecting the router to the switch and then the server to the switch. When you set up the server you will be able to allow different users to login to your network. What OS are you using on your server? Have you already setup your network?

If you want your server to have remote desktop connection you will need to set it up as a DNS server. I will look further into you question now.

Also most games these days are on DVD's. Just another reason to get a DVD drive.

For $300 you wont be able to buy the best mobo and RAM out there but there will still be some good deals around, keep looking.
