See any problems with this system plan?

Yeah other than the OS everything looks great. You should go to X64 as there is 100% support for it now and I have it on both my systems.

It is an older system. Have you opened it up and made sure that all the heatsinks are free of dust and other debris?

    Is this a good start?

I would not get it. You can get a newer Intel Conroe/Allendale based system for the same price and have better performance. The only thing that is worth about $100 in that system is the CPU as they are hard to find. I had that motherboard and its a great board its just that socket 939 has been...

I would go with the HP Elite m9260f. I also build gaming systems. But I only ship to the US. ~Tim

Does Gateway have good customer service?

QTF. Except for the HP part. Just build your own or find someone on here who knows what they are doing to build you one. I occasionally build and ship PC's but they are usually higher end gaming systems.

    overpowering a psu

The only problem with saying that is us people with the older components that draw higher amounts of power DO need insane PSU's. I bet you are probably someone who will spend a few bucks more on a case if it comes with a 'decent' PSU. FYI 25A is not even enough for ONE of my cards. ~Tim
