What happens if I switch out the motherboards?

apart from the fact that they are laptop mobos; the concept is the same as a desktop pc if every thing was to fit, you would have no probs if you were to try to swap the mobos; the mobo would be the wrong shape, size, port locations, ram location, cpu location, screen connector wont fit...

20 pin psu with 24 pin mobo. Help!?!?!?!

You should actually be able to just connect the 20 pin connector directly onto the 24 pin mobo connector, as for a 4pin or 8pin cpu connector; you can just use an atx 4 pin cpu connector all good mobos should have the voltage lines bridged for stability so you shouldn't have any problems...

    PCI ports

could you post a picture or post the brand and model of your motherboard your talking about so i can have a look:D if they (the brown "PCI" slots)are shorter than any of your other AGP or PCI slots on the mobo then they are probbably AMR slots (Audio Modem Riser) EDIT just made mesurements on...

    Computer Dying, Makes Scratching Sounds

If it is a fast, constant scratch sound (like tttttttttt, or dddddddddddd,) than it is probably a fan somewhere, if it is a pulsating scratch (like t_t___t_t___t_t___) and/or a clicking sound (d_d_d_d in tune with the scratches) than that would probably be a defective HDD i agree with Linkin...

Ok wat you have is you are trying to use a 24 pin atx power connector on a 20 pin atx mobo socket :D dont worry :o , you should jus be able to connect it up without removing the extra pins, just as long as there is room at the ends of the socket of your mobo like so: image from...

Get ATI 5000 series or wait?

all the 5000 series support ati stream so they can support up to 6 monitors in games (through 2 cards at least), so it is most likely that the next series will probably support 8-10 monitors and up ATI's workstation graphics cards can support 4-6 monitors through 1 card and something like 9 and...

How to make Firefox as fast as Chrome?

Ive never found a difference in speeds, firefox always seems to load my pages almost instantly even at 25kbps, anyway, having separate processes for each tab can be slightly unstable and can use up more memory than having one process

    Monitor resolution

the ati radion 9250 (agp x2/x4) will work on virtually any motherboard with agp and is pretty good at playing most old games, plus you get tv and dvi outputs. HIS still makes them (last time i checked), about $50 or less (australian dollars) i used to use one (and my sister still uses one)...
