Question Nero Essentials 7 or 8 TrialWare or Not?

I'm searching for a DVD burner to install for my brother in his Dell pc. I spent a lot of time perusing NewEgg for the retail versions with bundled software. After reading probably 200 reviews, Many of the comments were aimed at the bundled software (Nero Essentials 8 or 7). Some of the comments...

What is the deal with my computer

Have you checked your voltages in the bios? A more accurate way is to back probe the 20/24 connector with a vom but that's a bit daunting for some folks. Also, have you run MEMTEST86? Bronson7

    Cooler Master Cosmos

Same here. I love the i/o layout but the door is a deal breaker for me. I absolutely hate doors over the drive bays. Bronson7

    Which case to get?

Hi, Von. To me, the Cooler Masters (Centurion) are the best value in boxes. They're not real fancy, but elegant. I have bought three of them. No psu, 120mm in the back and an 80mm in the front, blowing right over he HDs. Tooless drive bays work great, but the tooless pci bays still need a screw...

    Anyone help?

ABU, why do you say it can't be ram? Have you run MEMTEST86? I'd do that first if you haven't already, then, as suggested, test the psu. I like to back probe the 20/24 connector under load using a digital VOM, if that's a bit daunting, substitute with a known good psu. You may also want to check...

    Is my case grounded?

How did you mount the motherboard? Your case may be grounded but not in a good way. You may have something shorting out to the case. Double check all your stand-offs, if used, (some cases have built in stand-offs). You definitely have a problem that needs addressing now before you do irreparable...

    PSU Good/Bad List

I don't know about that particular model, but I've built three rigs with the 430 watters, and they've been excellent. One of those going on four years. I wouldn't hesitate to buy ThermalTake. Bronson7

Fish Tank Full Of Veggie Oil For Computer.

That's too cool if only for geekness. Put some long airstones in there and run off an aquarium air pump. The air might conduct some of the heat away from the oil + plus it would look waaaaay cool. Bronson7

setup new comp and nothing. :(

Does your vid card have a power connector and if so, is it hooked up? Silly question, I know, but it happens a lot. Bronson7

Computer Problems - Pink screen blue lines!

Don't need to, but you'll have to dl it and create a floppy or cd on another pc. When you have that done, change the boot priority in your pc to floppy or cd. It'll boot to Memtest and start running. Bronson7

New to building pc's is this a good case?

I stay clear of cases with doors. To me they are generally a pita. Got to NewEgg and check out the CoolerMasters. Bronson7

Oops, leave the drive umplugged. Bronson7

    computer won't boot up

I definitly agree with the possibility it's the psu. I'd plug it all back up, run memtest86 and back probe the 20/24 connector for proper voltages while it was running. Bronson7

    computer won't boot up

I'm with meanman on this one. It's entirely possible it's a psu for the reasons he's given. I'd plug it all up, and while running MemTest86, backprobe the 20/24 connector for proper voltages using a digital vom. It's fairly quick and easy to do and would eliminate a likely component. Just be...

How easy/hard is it to build a PC?

Building is fairly easy. The big part is "compatibility". You have to know what will work with what. Like another poster said, it starts with the motherboard. Another thing to be mindful of is ESD (electro static discharge) and how to deal (or not to deal) with it. The actual act of building it...

You can put microATX mobo into ATX case right?

Carefull! Not ALL cases support the micro atx form. Some are ATX only. Best bet is call the mfg's support number and verify it. Bronson7

    Prob mounting MOBO

Every plate I've ever installed, goes in from the INSIDE of the case BEFORE the motherboard is installed. Bronson7
